Well, Dease, First of all I'm not on dialup, I'm on Sattlite Uplink. Second of all, since I'm using the computers on the ship to download stuff, I can't install any personal programs, like Getright. The only reason I can DL stuff from Civfanatics is because I DL directly to the ZIP drive, from whence I transferr it to my handy dandy laptop. and in case you're wondering, no I can't hook my laptop to the ship's network. If I did either of the two things I just said I can't, I could end up in the brig, which is where I don't want to go. My connection isn't great, but it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the link, I like links or programs that I can just push cancle, then come back in a day and start again were i left off....

I can't download while i am at school becuase I don't turn my computer on when I get home, that's about 4:00 - 4:30 PM..I ride bus, an hour bus ride, live in the country...cant wait till I drive, those yongr kids drive me crazy!! Oh and It would hope up the phone line, people can't call, we have our internet connects to the phone line, nobody can't through, un less they are lucky....

We are thinking about getting NetZero Hghspeed. Its a 5 times fast dial up... Cant DSL out in the coutry yet....

Geez.... I wish my connection was half that fast. The usual download speed for me is ~2 kbs or less. It sometimes takes longer for one page of the forums to load than it does for me to render 1 direction of a 24 frame animation in Bryce (average time for that is about 10 min).

Well good luck on your attempt to DL the file. I'm going to try tomorrow when I go on watch. If all goes well, the whole thing should be downloaded by the time I get off (knowing the way this connection works, it'll drop the connection halfway through the DL).

BTW, are you in HS, Pete?

That's pretty slow, when I surf the web while download, it goes down to 2, 3, 4 kbs something like that.....

Highschool...does Jr. HIGHSCHOOL count?? I am in 8th grade, next year I'll be in HS, FRESHMAN!! Whay did you want to know??

Well, you see, I'm a Bretheren (an offshoot of the Mennonite church), and in my hometown, we've been fighting a shadow war with the not-so-nice satanists (the ones who steal peoples pets for use in diabolical rituals, not to mention are responsible for the occasional kidnapping/human sacrifice). I mean I normally get along fairly well with most other faiths (I have one friend who's an old school animist and worships some of the Greek dieties as well as Gaia, Buddha, and God , another who's a druid, and several Wiccan and Shintoist friends as well), but it's kind of awkward when dealing with someone who's supposed to be on "the other team" as it were. Not to mention that I've personally had a few run-ins with the devil himself that weren't none too pleasant to say the least.

Anyways, in more Civ related matters, I'll be posting a comparison preview of my Arashi unit in my preview thread as soon as Poser decides it wants to open. (like I said, it runs REAAAAAL SLOOOOOOWWWW).

Hmm... True Satanists are atheistic autodeists, so I think the "satanists" in your town have no real idea what they are talking about. Let me guess, they use the pentagram, don't they? If so, they have no idea what they're talking about (the upward star -pentacle- just means spirituality and many religions used it (including Christianity at first), the downward one -pentagram- is anti-spiritual, meaning they wouldn't believe in the devil). I really hate those kind of "satanists", not only do they hurt/kill people and animals, but they don't even do it in the name of their "Lord" :shakehead:.

I'm an atheist, and I don't believe in anything "spiritual" necessarily. However, I would never put any trust into dogma, so I'm not going to be apart of any current religions (LaVey Satanism states that it is dogamtic, so I can't really call myself one, aside from some other minor discrepancies between my beliefs and Satanism). I usually get along with other beliefs too, but I live in the middle of Christian America (almost), so they really love to argue with me about it... Very annoying.

Now for some On-Topic talk to keep this post from being completely OT , school and the weird errors in OFX have really really slowed me down. I think I can start animating tonight, barring any technical errors.

AVY, I thought that atheists were just, well, atheists. BTW, the Satanists in my hometown don't use the ol' pentagram that much (except as a scare tactic against people who don't know any other occult symbology), they mostly use the number of the Beast (666), the anarchy symbol, as well as some more arcane and obscure symbols, such as the Illuminati's (which is a demon worshiping organization) pyramid with the evil eye and such like that. I'll just leave it at that, since even the thought of some of the stuff I've seen in the ritual sites I've stumbled accross makes me ill.

As for myself, I do not believe in dogmatic faith, but rather faith based on understanding. According to the Bible, (which realatively few people who claim to be Christians even read, let alone understand) true power (spiritual power, that is) can only come through faith and understanding of God's will, and living by the example He set when he came to earth. That's why I actually have given a good scolding to self-righteous people who condemn others for even associating with non-christians, since Jesus himself ate dinner with all the sinners and "low-lifes" in His day.

Anyways, enough religious discussion. Can we expect previews of the ol' Wolven....Er I mean Lycon Cataphract anytime soon?

I've been on the 'net since '97, and I've generally gotten to the point where I can tell a person's age by the way they word their posts and stuff, but yours are actually much more mature than the average junior or even some senior high school students(especially in the case of AOLers). I thought you were out of school or maybe in college. Oh well, I guess that teaches me to judge a poster by his cover. I've been out of High School for about 8 years now. About the only thing good I have to say about my experience in HS is that it really prepared me for boot camp (the rules were about as strict, and the food almost as bad ).

I started downloading OpenFX about 8:30 last night... got done about 11:00 PM..I played Whell of Fortune for a long time last night on Zone.com.... I'll get better at the game sooner or later...I am pretty good right now ANYWAY....

I installed it today...then I got VERY CONFUSED!!

This is going to take me a LOOOOONGGG while to get used too...At least I have it now...

Atheism is a classification for religions a lot like monotheism... It really doesn't say anything except how many gods you believe in. An atheist isn't necessarily a Satanist, but all Satanists (real Satansits, not devil-worshippers) are atheists. At least they use the proper symbols ('cept the anarchy sign, I don't really see what that has to do with the devil... But I don't know that much about the anarchy sign, so I won't say anything as far as correct usage).

The only thing I'll say about dogmatic faith is that technically Christians can't be dogmatic since no one can prove to them that any apparently contridicting evidence is actually valid (i.e. God made everything, so no natural evidence can be used against Him, and all His actions are too complicated for us to ever understand). I do respect and thank you for scolding the more prejudice Christians, since I have run into them all too often.

Hmm... Probably, I think I've gotten the rendering errors worked out (and by "rendering errors" I mean "complete inability to render whatsoever"), so I've already started animating, though I've never animated a horse before... Might not be amazing .

Yeah, it does look confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's really a very useful program for unit creation.

I finally have a default view animated, and the preview is posted below. I haven't animated the horse yet, which makes it look somewhat static, but that'll come later. I'm really not pleased with the horse or its armor, but it was the best I could do. Sorry 'bout that ...

Is the saddle majenta? It looks like it is in the preview. For the armour, look at BeBro's Burgundian Knight for an idea of how it should look like.

TO Dease and Husky: I'm pretty sure the saddle is a dark brown (hard to see at civ scale), I'll look into it. About the Burgundian Knight, If you're talking about the armor shape, I don't think I can make mine much, if any, better (trust me, I've tried... I'm still getting the hang of modelling). If you're talking about the color, I could change that pretty easily.

It's not the armour colour, it was how the armour fit on the horse (the Burgundian Knight was an example). The armour looks like it's touching the ground, and it should be a bit higher (like the example).

I think it's coming out for C3C and PTW, but I don't know for Vanilla. Why didn't Firaxis release a Civ 3 scenario conversion tool of some sort? Seems like he shoulda...

Umm.....HELP!!

How in the world do you use this thing??? I dont understand it at all...

I build a cube for the main cab...Then I build another cube..I try to make it go right beisde it but both images are 1.... I resize one they both resize...I don't get it......???

I am working on the the model first, I'll do the animation stuff once I learn the modeling.....

I see that there is a Semi already in the program, but I don't want to use that one...it was made by somebody else...I rather try to build my own...

I looked at the tutorial....I didn't really understand it....I read all 500+ posts...well scanned most of them...

Anybody help?
