Challenge-IX-02

Really!? Reading more and more the code let me deduced some behaviours. Workers are running to get back to cities; without cities, they cannot do anything.

But all units, that's a hoot hoot.

Well, I tied Poll on date, but he's got me on score. I suffer a lot of bad luck early on with losses, but the key seems to be a) get horse right off b) get chariots out to multiple ais asap. Not sure if GW is hindrance or help, but I do build it eventually..usually comes quick even without stone. A gem or gold is more important than stone here.

I expect earlier dates are possible. Comparing this to the last AW Conquest with Monty it seems Keshiks would be faster and there were BC finishes in that game. Key is success on your first couple of AIs without as many stupid losses so you can move on and harass the next ones. I may try sending out 6 chariots to all the AIs to harass, pillage metals and stop settlers.

The AIs always seem to get multiple sources of metals on this map.

Can you guys fill me in on what you find so enjoyable about always war games? I want to know what I am missing out on!

I'm not particularly fond of them myself nor am I very good at AW. AW are a change of pace and full of action without too much thinking, at least at lower levels. It's often exceedingly frustrating.

Raging barbs is a pain. I guess it slows the AIs, but I don't know how many times the stupid barb warriors have blocked me from taking out an AI....like many times. I pull my troops into range only to be block by a warrior or 3. Take him out and I end up just shy of what I need to take the city. Wait...more troops anyway. It has literally delayed me centuries taking out an AI. The barb warriors just walk around and don't do anything.

Isn't that the fun of it? :D Require complete kills makes it even more annoying :p

I disliked this one; too much gambley.

More and more I get experienced, more I find conquest/dom in low levels too demanding.

But I have to pass through this to get challenger serie finished.

haven't played one of these in a while. My game ended up at 600 AD or so, and it was way too slow.

I think the key to games like this is to whack all cities that aren't in the middle of the board. I kept too many caps and ended up having to build the Great Wall to deal with the annoying barbs.

What's fun about these games? Well, you kill a lot of things. I barely built any infra - rax, ger, maybe a granary or a monument or so.
