I was talking with willem about a goal that Van Der Meyde did to Roma..so I thought I'd made a thread about memorable goals...

Tell us about goals you've seen in the Champions League (doesn't matter wich season) that you enjoyed watching...and we'll comment on them.

EDIT: AND goalkeepers' saves!!!!

Well, there were a couple by some blokes named Sheringham and Solsjkaer which had me jumping out of my seat....

Possibly my favourite Man U goal from a technical perspective, however, was a last minute penalty which van Nistelrooy took the season before last away to a French team in the group stage. He hit it very hard, very low, right in the bottom left hand corner, and although the opposing keeper anticipated it, dived the right way, and had been playing a blinder, he just simply couldn't get to it. I don't think anyone could have saved it - a penalty taken that well is always going to score, but so many of them (eg this year's Champions League final) are taken so badly.

Yeah. Those were the most memorable ever. :goodjob:

Zidane's winning goal vs Leverkusen in the CL final last year, hell of a shot, altough Leverkusen was the better team in that game.

Indeed, I haven't laughed like that since I made a bet (one pack of cigarettes) that Suker would score another goal in Croatia vs Germany in the world cup 98. 2 minutes later he did it. :D

I didn't follow quite why Zidane's goal was so rated, to be honest. I suppose it was the biggest stage in club football, but it really was a swing and hope sort of effort. I rated Figo's curler from the edge of the penalty box in the 1st leg of the season's games against Man U as a much better goal - he had options, he could have crossed, or passed or dribbled, but instead produced an absolute peach of a shot.

02/03 Ajax only:

Lobont's saves against both Roma and AC Miland this year. Especially the free kick against Roma was a fabulous save :)

Litmanen's goal home against Roma, and the Meyde goal mentioned by Inter in the away game :)

Batistuta scored a fine goal when at Fiorentina. But I can not remember against which team.
