I wonder if anybody else experienced this. Playing as Chandragupta I launched a nuclear device from a missile silo improvement at an enemy city and yet the achievment “I thought we moved past this joke” did not trigger. I had already unwittingly won that game with a cultural victory several turns earlier, but that should not matter, should it?

I'm fairly certain you have to get the achievement before winning the game for it to count.

That certainly is not true for many achievments - I know from experience you can get at least some achievments after winning the game in Civ 6. Would this particular achievment be an exception?

i once got the "Missed That Day in History Class" also after winning the game

It was the same for me as well, I won a cultural victory and the achievement wouldn't trigger after that. I could only get it in another game before winning it.

Maybe the silo is the problem. I found a Reddit thread where people reported triggering the achievment from bombers and subs but not triggering from silos.

Ah, that confirms my suspicion then. I guess it's a bug. After all, why would a silo nuke not trigger the achievment? A nuke is a nuke, at least from the poor victims' perspective.

You could load up your game and build a bomber (and another nuke if necessary). I prefer bombers and subs for launching myself.

Every achievement that requires you launching WMD, you need a bomber, can't use silo, the 7 apocalyptic wonders achievement, Chandragupta achievement, the one that needs you to launch WMD on Nena continent with 9 observation balloon as well. I don't really know why.
