changes in the latest patches

    Barb ships should take out embarked units, just like enemy ships should.

    Here is an idea:
    • By default land units take 100 damage if attacked by naval units.
    • Give land units a promotion: When attacked by naval units, they take 40% less damage for each adjacent friendly naval unit, but deal 10 splash damage to adjacent naval units.
    • Expending a great admiral heals embarked units too.
    This would mean that unescorted land units would be destroyed (or nearly so if they have extra HP), but you could effectively protect them with your navy. A land unit on the edge of a convoy, next to only one ship, might take 60 damage, but one near 2 or more friendly ships would be pretty safe. Plus, naval ships would take a little attrition from their defensive work.

    My view on the embarked change (if it has to stay this way):
    • Embarked military units should get the same CS regardless of unit type, increased by era (as before, but higher)
    • Increased embarked strength promotions should be nerfed accordingly so embarked CS cannot be higher than land CS of units of the same era. Exception to those with TWO such promotions (Songhai Explorers); those deserve to be bulkier in water.
