I understood that changing the color DOESN'T effect the civ icon in the pick menu as they are not customizable and prefixed. So, in which directory the icons are found? Or there's a mod that changes the color already?

You are correct, the icon colours are set to default when you choose your civ / opponents. You can easily change the colours in the xml file "colors.xml" which can be found in the path: \common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Assets\Gameplay\Data\ (in your Steam folder).
I did a colour replacement "mod" but haven't updated it for a while. It wasn't really a mod, it just changed the xml to replace some of the colours to make it a bit easier to tell who was who. It gets set back to default when there is a patch update so I wasn't going to revisit it until this 4th DLC comes out.

My current xml is here if you want to grab it, it's up to date as of the Australia DLC (24th March 2017). http://www.bluestar.com.au/Civ6/colors.xml
Make sure you back up your original xml first, then copy that colors.xml linked above over the old one.

Just ignore the entries for civs that aren't in-game yet, I was just fiddling around with non-conflicting colours there.

I'd love to be able to change Gorgo's icon to a Lambda, but I haven't really sat down and played with the icon format as yet. XML stuff like the colour changes above are pretty easy, especially when you don't have a lot of time handy.

I already knew what you wrote, Iwas asking of there's a way to change the icons outside the gameplay, in the menu itself. The xml changes are pretty easy I just want to change the icons where you pick the settings for a new game

Not officially, no. There is some discussion around changing the icons over in the customisation sub-forum though. It might be worth a look. As I said above though, I just haven't really had time to play around with editing icons as yet.
