Checking XML

I pass the loading sceen then it takes me to the loading bar and "checking xml" is as far as I can go, then it just disapears. I meet the requirements. Please help I want to play this game.

Try making another windows account and playing it through there.

I'm getting the same problem. The only clue I can find so far, is that this error message gets dumped into the Application event log every time I try to run Civ4.

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.

This is an issue with your sound card....audio initilization is failing; it is the next thing after XML check...There is a thread floating around here that has the fix...check the stickies at the top....
