The tiles are viewable in the City Display. Look at vmxa's screenshot at the tile NE of the city. It's an Irrigated and Roaded Bonus Grassland River tile. A normal, unroadedme: can I see these numbers on a display somewhere? I need to see the Excel spreadsheet for the city. I know about the trade-offs of making entertainers, but when you say "... Roaded River BG in Republic, giving him 2 FpT, 1 SpT, and 2 CpT ..." how can I see them 1) on that road, 2) by that river, 3) gaining 2F/1S/2C pT?? All I see is that if I click on a square - stuff changes. Is it better or for worse?
non-Bonus Grassland gives you 2 Food, but since this is Irrigated and the government is not Despotism, it gives 3. Since it's a BG, it's giving a Shield. And since it's a Roaded River tile, it's giving 2 Commerce, plus the extra Republic Bonus commerce. If the citizen working there were moved to the tile directly E of Mecca, it would lose 1 Shield, 1 Commerce, and 1 Food, since it's a non-Roaded, non-Irrigated, non-Bonus Grassland.
me: I see. It's those colored lights that hypnotize, sparkle someone else' eyes now woman!... oh sorry, I was channeling The Guess Who.
???
- yellow is gold represents immediate wealth
- amber is bails of hay and represent food
- blue is shields and represent production,
- red is amount of corruption
Close enough; the city's tile-view gives them Food/Shield/Commerce, but that's nipicking.
So how do I add them all up? Does 2 corruption = -1 gold ? Does 3 red get canceled by a Courthouse? Is there a separate display for this calculation?
Corruption is a straight deal when you see it. If a city has 6 blue shields and 1 red shield, it effectively has 6 Production. It would have 7, but the corruption is making it lose the seventh shield. If you wanted to see the actual corruption level of a city, I think you'd need CivAssist 2 or something similar (I don't think MapStat shows you that), unless you wanted to do the calculations yourself.
me: I'm not. That was mentioned only to show what a major butt-head I am... I do play it, but am not able to figure out the same thing there as well - namely: how clicking a tile affects my income. So it doesn't matter which game... if I click a tile, how can I tell how, and by how much, my net income has changed?
Add them up. Notice the Commerce box in the middle - that gives you your adjusted Commerce for gpt, bpt, and luxuries. The AI has its sliders set at 70% Taxes, 30% Science, and nothing for Luxuries, so of the 14 Commerce the city is generating, 10 are going into Gold, 4 are going into Science, and 4 Luxuries from the Entertainers are keeping the working Citizens content. If the city had a Library (+50% Science, IIRC), it would be generating 6 coins for Science instead of 4.
BTW, does 1 citizen work 1 tile? Then what if the city is size 6 with hundreds of thousands of citizens... are they all working the 9 tiles? And what about the tiles outside the 9?
If the tile doesn't have any Food/Shield/Commerce symbols on it, it's not being worked. The total number of 'citizens' doesn't matter, only the number next to the city in the map view (6, in your example).
