Chieftan is too easy for me.
I do not share your point of view as I do not have fun (anymore) playing chieftain, where is the fun if you do not scare ?
I just won my first game at emperor, will try again a few more games before stepping into Diety.
But like dojobo wrote, I may try one cheiftain game to attempt a space race victory.

for the first two months, I played on Chieftain exclusively. After building up some skills I made the switch to Warlord and found it to be much more entertaining. When season 4 (tournament) was announced, I decided it was time to step it up again to Regent. After playing through season 4 in the regular division and winning every game by the right victory condition, I am Making the jump to Monarch.
For some fun and slaughter, I may load up a game at Warlord, but that is not likely.
PS: If you just wanna kick some butt, check out game 4-5 in the tournament thread. It is sooooo much fun.

Trading and the tech race are things I would really miss on chieftain, warlord and even regent.

I don't know about "never will I do such a childish act", but I certainly wouldn't play Civ 3 on Chieftain. It's just, like, "there goes 10 hours of my life I'll never have again".
I'm surprised that so many people (over 40% at time of writing) play at Chieftain level some of the time - no disrespect intended, but isn't it just so unchallenging as to be wasting your time ?

sometimes i play cieftain just to laugh at the AI's. It's pretty funny to see a whole civ destoryed by warriors

I always play chieften because i always get shafted with bad land.
I mean in my last huge map game I only got horses and oil naturally. I had to conquest everything else.
Additionally china got put in a virtual garden of eden with no opponents and i get shoved in a shoebox with three other civs...

Regent has become my easy level, and it's about to become monarch.
I used to like messing around and making cool seeming empires, but one day it hit me how boring that was so now I only play things that can at least offer SOME challange (regent).
