China kung fu monks seek apology for ninja affront!

well kung-fu really is bad. kung-fu and tae kwon do are the two most overhyped sack of crap disciplines on earth. Karate is bad, but there are at least certain subdisciplines in karate that are at least decent. I can't say the same for kung-fu or tae kwon do.
I don't know why you hate kung-fu so much? Maybe because people glorify it without knowing anything about it.

That said, you have to admit these guys are amaziningly talented. Maybe many of their techniques would not be useful in a "real fight" (whatever that means) but it's still awesome.

And I'll bet they would beat any MMA guy in a swordfight. ;)

Posting some 80 year old "kai master" vs. a young mixed fighter is hardly proof that kung-fu sucks. Not that I'm particularly interested in debating you about it (or making the claim that in a no-holds barred contest with no weapons that the best mixed martial artist would beat the best kung-fu practitioner) personally but I am interested in the debate in general. Why don't you start an inflammatory thread titled "Kung-Fu sucks, try and prove otherwise!" or some such to answer me cause we're getting way off topic?

They also practice nonviolence and act like total kitties.
Yeah, and kittens are bad ass! If I weighed only one pound I totally wouldn't screw with a kitten!

BTW, you reminded me of a thread I was gonna start before. :)

Kung Fu is a lousy fighting style, its been proven a few times when kung Fu masters got their ass kicked in free style with other fighting styles.

I could defeat them Shaolin Ninjas.

Waits to be demanded to give an apology.

How about a world-renowed Kung-fu fighter (Jason Delucia) fighting a 16 year old BJJ guy 15lbs lighter and much less muscular than him, and getting completely pwned. This was long before Royce made a name for himself in MMA, and despite how famous the Gracie family is he was FAR from a top-level BJJ guy back then.

Kung Fu and virtually any other form of martial arts are only effective forms of combat if your opponent agrees to follow the same style. Otherwise, any boxer or freestyle fighter of equal or greater talent will win. This has been proven countless times.

while I agree a mix of styles is best, people have had success being one dimensional in certain highly effective styles (mostly wrestling, BJJ, and muay thai) in freestyle fights.

Why are you so resistant to this idea, Narz?
I'm not. I just want people to post videos.

I believe that someone with a lifetime of training in something like Brazilian Ju-Jitsu or Krav Maga will win in hand to hand combat against a monk in the hills who's spent a lifetime learning many stylized forms is in excellent shape but hasn't actually been in many (if any) actual fights.

I don't think that makes kung-fu a "crappy" art though or necessarily inapplicable in a real martial situation (if one trained with that as the main goal in mind).

Then again, I admitedly don't have much knowledge about martial arts in general (most of that comes from youtube videos, stuff I've downloaded and people talking schnit on the internit). That's why I'm asking for more information/videos/schnit talking.

That's a good fight. Man, you have to hand it to that guy, he really tries to win and takes a ton of abuse before he finally gives up!

Yeah, pactically the whole thing is grappling which is the other guys strong point. Nice fight:)

As for the martial arts vs arguments the thing is it's really about the artist, not the art. If you train in almost any art for a few years you will be able to virtually anybody who hasn't trained in an art.

To become good against other arts though requires skill, and cannot be determined based on the art you practice. My Sensei who is a 2nd Dan in Aikido could easily kill any of you, not that he would. He's spent 20 years doing Aikido, and so he knows how to manipulate your body. To become good requires practice in a grappling art, like Jujitsu, or a descendant like Aikido is. In the eend though the very best arts are going to be the ones developed for war. Jujitsu was the artof the Samurai which they used in battle when to close to use there weapons. I gauruntee you that in a fight that Jujitsu, and it's descendants would dominate any 'modern' art like boxing, modern Karate, or wrestling. One is designed to kill enemies on a battlefield, the other is designed to win sporting competitions... You decide:)
I believe that Shaolin Kung Fu is a battlefield art as well. And thus should be better, but I imagine that like Karate it has probably been weakened from it's original form for competition.

@The OP they really need to lighten up, it's just a message board on the internet:rolleyes:
