So I'm really proud of myself. Usually when I play games, I try to be as peaceful as possible, only entering into war when absoultly nessesary. but, in this 70% water contenients map, I was playing as the Chinese (vanillia btw) and as usual, beelining Rebuplic, and hoping to find other civs. Well I stumbled upon the Japanese.

Now, as a person who has seen many a games where the computer has attacked me at my weakest, I saw the great oppritunity as the two cities I found by them only had warriors (and I only build archers in the beginning of games). So I saved a copy of the game and attacked. After a little while, I ended up with this

Then I attacked again

Now, I was happy, but also knew that sometimes, those dang spearman can last forever e.x: :spear: But, I wasn't about to spoil my roll, so I attacked anyways, getting to here
Spoiler :

By now, I was celebrating, because had I been myself, me and the Japanese would be sharing the land, and I'd be left heated because I couldn't expand farther. So I kept at it getting here

Needless to say, I'm proud of myself, but I'm stuck. their last city has two spearman, and i don't want to wait until i connnect another iron (my source exhausted right after I built my first sword) because ther could be more by then, and I don't want to lauch all my archers at it and risk the spears murdering them. First off, did I do this whole war thing right, and second, what should I do. (btw, i see why people declare war so much. it's quite satisfying. :) )

P.S I'll post the save later, this is my unpatched Civ III vanillia.

Upadate: I advanced a bit on the Japanese today, here is where I'm at. (another swordsman is on the way off screen.) is this a good position to attack? Or should I wait until the whole army is there?
Spoiler :

Update: Actually, I went for it and now the Japanese are no more. This goes down as the fastest I've ever 1. declared war, and 2. destroyed a civilization :-) I'd appricate feedback however on my progress and how it looks.

looks like fun Early wars

looks like everything went ok... if you won, then I'd say you did it right

i guess the sad thing is you didnt get a leader

It looks like you did a really good job, especially if you're inexperienced in early warfare. There are many good guides for early warfare in the War Academy, but one thing you should remember is to make sure you have a plan when starting a war. Don't start one without reason. Good job.

Sharwood is totally right. War without a plan always ends in defeat.

I love war, but like you I remain peaceful until all other options are exhausted. Early wars are fun because they play exactly like ancient wars used to, sporadic, and sometimes random attacks by units that are small and spread too thin against each other. But you did the right thing, because you won, if they enemy is weak and your at war, take them out! Now you can have a really prolonged rex, without the need for a huge army!

But make sure you change your war plan depending on the era & style of war! Sending Infantry in piece-meal = a lot of dead infantry.

I don't know why, but I notice you do alot of grave digging. Might want to quit it.

Because there are so few new threads, I think. Where did everyone go?

If you're having trouble with defense units like spearmen, just bring in a couple of artillery, see how well they stand up with one health left.

I'd recomend a higher difficulty lvl for ya
