It states in civlopedia that chinese generals are ''more effective''. Anybody knows why? Regular generals give 25% bonus in 2 square radius, so do chinese as far as I know.

China is probably the easiest Pangea nation due to that bonus. If you manage to catch enemy to fight with it and in the open, he's as good as dead.

Ermak, I have a thread on how sick they are "Chinese Death March"... but here's a tip if you play them; social policies are key if you want to rule the world early. Go Honor Tree, then your second upgrade get the free General (which at that point in the game will make your units like demigods), then if you get a third, get the 15% bonus when other units are nearby, further making your units stupid strong.

For reference, with those 3 upgrades a SCOUT can decimate a WARRIOR and even stand a fair chance against a Spearman. Kinda stupid. I expect a patch will decrease the effectiveness of the Chinese GG's.

I actually find the turbocharged GGs somewhat underwhelming against the AI. The overkill doesn't decrease the amount of damage you sustain by all that much, or make conquest all that much faster.

It's the Paper Makers that are insane. Big money -> Happiness buildings -> longer sustained early push -> more cities -> more early Gold and Science -> more Happiness buildings...

Ignoring Happiness is suboptimal because it doesn't permit you to take advantage of the massive growth potential from Maritime allies, and nerfs your Hammers. Also, Science and Gold buildings are stronger in fewer, larger cities.

The scariest thing about the Chinese is that their weakest unique is probably their UU, and that's still one of the best UUs in the game.

How about surrounding the GG with a Cho-Ko-Nu horde? Their attack of twice per turn, combined with the 45% upgrade, must make taking cities rather easy! :mischief:

just take cities with horseman and 1st GG from the honor line.
much earlier and faster than waiting for CKN.
later on upgrade to Knights, they're like Rifle on wheels.

Remove the Chinese UU and UB and leave them with just their UA, and they would still be a stronger civ than say the Aztecs.

Those GGs practically makes every single unit an UU.

Some balancing is needed :)

45% from general, plus +15% from discipline, plus +15% from heroic epic makes +75%, throw in a terrain bonus and you have double strength units.

I'd say something needs to be done :)
