Choice of Civilization to play?

There have been discussions about which nation to play, and with the broadly supported proposal for the opportunity to choose leader traits, it has been suggested to randomize the civilization election in order to not favor a particular faction in terms of getting the best civilization fit to specific traits.


This is a 3 day poll, public vote.

Options are:

1. Random Civilization
2. We vote over a specific civilization after prior discussion

I'm not nitpicking, really. However, this isn't really the right poll question.

There are two questions:

1. Do we want to play with the "unrestricted leaders" option turned on?
A yes vote means we turn on the function, which applies to all leaders in the game. It also activates poll #2.
A no vote means we play as the civ corresponding to the chosen leader.


2. If "unrestricted leaders" is on, do we want to choose a civ, or random?
Choose a civ means that we select that civ on the startup screen.
Random means we leave that setting as random.

I beg to disagree. There are two options in this poll, no need to complicate things in serial polls. Players can fundamentally choose a random civ, or to decide on a civ, plain and simple. The other poll will take care of the unrestricted option or not, let us keep those polls separate.

The other poll does not take care of unrestricted option. Three polls are needed then:

Choose traits (and therefore leader)
Unrestricted
Choose civ or random
