This is the sports forum, and I know Pro Wrestling isn't a "sport."

But this is huge news. Chris Benoit, one of the finest wrestlers of our time, has been found dead along with his wife and kids in their home in Atlanta.

Go there for more info, or any other wrestling news site for that matter.

I sat down to watch WWE and pow they started with a pic the Rabid Wolverine in memory. His wife was "Woman" his valet from his days in the 4 Horsemen.

The news totally blew me away.

R.I.P Crippler.

omg i just came here to post this, i know some say it isnt a sport, but eddies death was reported here so it makes sense.

Wow i dont know if he is really dead, with the whole vince mcmanoh story line i dont know what to think. I thought it was stupid when they ran the dead vince story so soon after eddie.

Wikipedia says it was a muder suicide, and wasnt with guns. they appear as if they were crippler crossfaced to death!

As an avid pro-wrestling fan for the past several years.. and a smark of sorts.. I was shocked to learn of Benoit's death. Thankfully, WWE has canned McMahon's death storyline over the recent events.

The unconfirmed reports coming out of several media outlets right now are that it was a double murder-suicide. No one has yet confirmed who was the perpetrator or if this was even true. Other sources are spreading rumors that it was Carbon Monoxide.

Chris Benoit was a man I admired for a lot of reasons- his heart, determination, and respect for those who rightfully deserved it were reasons beyond his techincal wrestling prowess.

As a wrestler, I can't begin to explain what Chris Benoit was. Best technical wrestler of all time? Very possible. I can't think of a more qualified candidate. He consistently put on World Class matches with those much less talented than he and you'd never know the match was scripted if you didn't step back and say to yourself: whoa, this is WWE.

I hope to God the reports coming out are untrue. I know it sounds silly, I can't imagine there are many WWE watchers on this forum, but I saw this topic and felt inclined to post this.

RIP Chris, Linda and Daniel Benoit

I was surprised to find out at work from a colleague that Benoit had died. It is a total shock and I was looking forward to seeing him when he came to Perth. It is a sad day that this happened.

i read they ran a 3 hours memorial in the WWE...not bad for someone who killed his child and wife...

I think they figured it out about halfway through. Some of the interviews looked forced, but nothing was definite at that point. I'm sure they wish that they had had another day before putting this "tribute" on.

If golf, auto racing, and mountain climbing can be considered sports, so can professional wrestling. Just because it follows a script doesn't make it any less physically demanding.

But on to the point. Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers ever, and this situation has me deeply disturbed. I just really don't know what to feel, knowing someone I though of as a hero is having all signs pointing to him being a child killer.

But as far as the Raw tribute goes, they had just found out at pretty much the last minute, without any solid details on the situation. Their website had tributes to him all over the front page last night, but they've all been removed now.

Anyway, I need to go play some Civ to get my mind off this.

Why is everyone honoring him? I would wait for who is suspected as the murderer before you start praising him. Last I've heard, he murdered his own wife and son.

because it took a couple of days before the police said to the public what was the cause of death. Like dcbandicoot said i'm sure everybody who honored him feel bad now...

I still honour the man. One or two acts doesn't negate everything positive he has done.

Notice wwe took down all the tributes, Its because they have all but confirmed he murdered his wife and son in cold blood. It wasnt a act of blind rage but cold calculated murder. WWE.com says he binded his wifes arms and legs before hanging her, then waited a while before killing his son and then hisself. Leaving a bible at each body, Tieing her arms and legs and telling wwe he wouldnt be at the show, shows that he thought it through.

I guess it was some sort of dispute, maybe she said the marrige was over or she had been cheating. A wreslting carrer and a family seem to be conflicting , on the road 300 days a year, it would be hard to be a good husband and father. So she says devoice and he tells his manger he wont be there for Vengence because he has to go home and sort a family emergency.

He could have walked in told his son to go to the neighbours house and then broke his wifes neck and killed himself. Why kill his son? the sicko! i dont care if he was a great wreslter he was a child killing monster and i hope he goes to hell.

Also i didnt really like him as a wreslter, sure he was a good guy, but his fights were slow and long, boring compared to real greats like hogan and the rock. He was a bret hart want to be, bret was great, chris was lame.

Here we see again what steroids can do to people. Something clicked in his head and he decided to kill his family. Your fault, you started to use steroids and got mad because of them.

And I suppose if a person gets drunk and kills someone as a result (Which obviously never happens), then we should blame alcohol primarily?

Chris Benoit was a fantastic wrestler, a great entertainer. The tributes given to him were deserved, IMO. But he ruined his legacy with what he did to his family, and you can't look past that.

No, we should blame the guy that used alcohol. Alcohol can be good if you don't use it too much, I don't see anything good in steroids.
