Castle Jayne: Build caravan in 8 turns. Still celebrating! :D
Fort Anarchy: Build caravan in 5 turns. What next?
Roskilde: Build caravan in 12 turns. Change to settler, builds in 8 turns. Roskilde grows in 9 turns. Are we still disbanding?
Legendary City: Build temple in 5 turns. What next?
Dellham: Build dip in 5 turns.
Reneaux: Build caravan in 5 turns.
Monks Towne: Builds archer in 9. No growth. Suggest sacking Elvis and allow city to grow again. Objections?
The Udal: Build archer in 13 turns. Grows in 2. Do we want to rename, or let the citizens of The Udal keep their heritage.

The trireme is nearer Viborg than any other city.

Do we want to IPRB any items?

Please discuss!

I don't want to vote right now. First I'll have to check out the situation in all those places.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't think we should rename conquered cities that we keep. You don't have the option of actively supporting that opinion in your poll, so I'll just state it here.

Conquer Viborg! (We and which army?)

Someone has said build something else in LC, but not said what!!

We need to give careful thought to Roskilde. It is currently size 2 and unless we hire some Elvii, it's going to grow to size 3 in 9 turns, and currently we aren't even building a settler:eek:. My concern is that we never catch up with ourselves and keep building settler after settler but not actually being able to disband it.

Er, yes. That would have been me. I was going to say "Build another trireme" there, but since I can't see the map then I have no idea what is going on in the world and whether it would be a useful addition to our fleet or not. :(
I may just bow out of all voting until the next turns so that I can start afresh with the pictures and a better idea of what our empire is like.

Roskilde, Settler, Yes. IPRB $8. It just grew, and the AI took the Fish. Serf off Fish into Blank Ocean, slows growth to 27 turns. Later, IPRB $8 again if we want quick completion.

I'll vote later today, so MonkE can move again Saturday.

duke, find a solution. Have you tried Save As and use another program?

Sorry, I slipped a bit in Roskilde. I changed back to caravan after IPRB (a habit) and forgot to move serf from fish to ocean. As GaryNemo detailed, the plan is still to build settlers and disband.

I would support building a trireme in LC for sending a diplomat (and archer?) to grab and fortify an Indian city. That will distract them! We also need at least one diplomat in the far north for the Vikings.

Duke, the maps were saved as jpg from Photo Studio 2000. IE6 reads them well here.

I voted ren-something else, as in start a wonder, but caravans would suffice i suppose!

Castle Jayne: Caravan 26/50 in 8, or IPRB $8 in 7 turns
  Temple Elvis 2.BlackDudes 0.Police, grows in 18
Fort Anarchy: Caravan 36/50 in 5, grows in 9 to Size=2
Coal Mine 5/10 turns (Reneaux Settler)
Legendary City, Temple 20/40 in 5, then Trireme
Dellham: Diplomat 5/30 in 5, 4 w $11, 3 w $22 IPRB
  Temple 2.BlackDudes 2.Guards stable, grows in 19
Serf to River Plains +Road +Whale, grows in 37
Reneaux: Caravan 25/50 in 5, could IPRB $11,
Could change to Diplomat in 1 turn
Temple 2.BlackDudes Phx Warrior police, stable
The Udal: Archers 4/30 in 13? grows in 2?
Roskilde: Fish to Ocean, grows in 27
  Settlers 16/40 in 8 turns

Hopefully, build a city before then.
Monks Towne: Archer 5/30 in 6 w $2, change to Settler?
  Elvis serf to River Plains

Neuma Settler SW Road to Castle Jayne.

I'm not sure whether you can see this in the game itself. I can't even remember whether or not the Civilopedia gives you the number of turns it takes to perform particular actions on different terrain types. You just have to set your settler to work and then see how long it takes to road a grassland or mine a hill or irrigate a forest, etc. Then you can work out how many engineers to put in your stack for the "forest to roaded and farmed grassland ina single turn" feat! It needs tonnes of engineers but you can allow yourself a big smug grin when you've done it and can watch the map slowly change from a mass of forest, jungles and swamps to pure grassland. :)
NB - Always road the square first. If you are about to finish another square, then two engineers can build a road on a forest in a single turn, which means you can move the big pile over and start chopping trees!

I don't think it does, but this information is in Nethog's reference.

There is also a post somewhere explaining settler/engineer stacking (or teams) for terrain jobs. Basically, only 2 workers at a time can contribute to a job. The second worker charges the first, and there is a procedure for swapping many different second workers in and out. I tried that in an OCC game once, but I'm not sure it really worked.

LC is already building a temple. Perhaps a barracks should be the next build.

A barracks wasn't offered on the poll. Building a legion is ahead, but I'd like to know how much support there is for building a barracks first, so the legion (and subsequent units) will be veteran.

Someone made an economic analysis about barracks building once. Assuming veteran units are worth 1.5 regular units (the veteran combat bonus), we are ahead with the barracks if more than 2 units are built. Surely we're planning on more than 2 units! :)

I simply recall we started the Coal Mine 5 turns ago, and believe it takes 10 turns to Mine a Hill. It also takes 10 turns to Mine a Mountain. Mining a Hill gains 3 shields, but a Mountain only one.

This info, and also the idea that any number of Settlers or Engineers can be combined to complete a task (not relevant for NUF in this epoch) is Settler Bible . Consider bookmarking it; I have also saved a copy on my local hard drive. And will you take a look at the avatar of the fellow who compiled that!

LC is building a Temple 20/40 in 5 turns.
What we need next is a Trireme, which is supported unanimously by this recent poll: Caravan Priority 120AD . A Barracks will not improve a Trireme, iirc.

Could we build a Diplomat for every Trireme? And Legion?

Any objections to my serf umanagement post above?

I voted:
FA to build this Caravan in 5, then another Caravan.
Supplies Coal, Beads, Cloth, forget it.
LC to build Other - Trireme next.
Dell & Ren, change to Diplomats Right Now, then Caravans.
Riskilde to disband.
Fish to Ocean, grows in 27, Settlers 16/40 in 8 turns.

Dellham: Diplomat 5/30 in 5, 4 w $11, In 3 w $22 IPRB
Serf to River Plains +Road +Whale, grows in 37
Reneaux Settlers complete FA Coal Mine, but not Iron Mine.

Monks Towne: Archer 5/30 in 6 w $2, change to Settler?
Elvis serf to River Plains, harmless.
Archer should be wary of Viking surprises.

Udal Settler, Road SW S S to Dellham.

I concur with Governor Jayne's recommendations (in Turn 200AD), except on the issues of LC Trireme and Iron Mine. We can revisit those next turn. It is possible to disband Roskilde without $IPRB. And ...

If MonkE can use a Diplomat from Reneaux, completed in 1 turn, he should change to Diplomat, then start another Caravan.
Any objections?
