Cities dissappear

Ok not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this but here goes.

I've recently encountered a problem with civ 3, whenever I attack an enemy civ and take one of their cities, all but one of the other cities of the same civ just disappear. they turn into those little piles of rubble.

I've had the game installed on my PC for a bout a year and a half now and have never encountered the problem before. I don't remember changing any settings or messing with any of the files, except for the keepres=1 trick or whatever its called, and it does not do this on my laptop.

I've de-installed and reinstalled and re-downloaded the patch but the problem still exists. I'm at my wits end here and have no idea whats going on. anyone else have this problem before and know how to fix it?

I think it is called regicide. If you take any town they are eliminated and loss all towns. It is a victory condition selected at the start. check you option at start where you have Space and Culture wins and such.

I think captured towns are also destroyed when they 1.

The all-but-one part of it is because you also have Respawn AI on.

I think it is called regicide.

I think it's called "Elimination", and it is one of the victory conditions.

"Elimination" is the one.

The 'new' victory conditions in Conquests/Complete (e.g., Elimination, Capture the Flag, Regicide, etc.) were not really meant for Single Player games. They were intended to provide variety for MP.

Did you know that Civ3 (complete) is the best game ever made. And the most addictive. Also, did you know it is awesome and kickass?
Only the Chinese restaurant across the street is better. Wait...that's not a game.

Regicide is "Kill (all of) the King(s)".

Mass Regicide has multiple king units, so it isn't quite as easy to wipe an enemy out. Some use those king units as scouts early, before there are too many threats to risk it.
