Cities next to each others

Because I chose accelerated start and he got 2 cities, thus his main city is smaller. No you cannot see the second city, but I have another screen which shows it. I can post it if you wish.

Even if you don't choose accelerated start it is possible for a restart to begin with a lot more than a single size one city. When I was retroactively tracking how one game went I found that three of the 17 restarts had begun with two settlers that at turn end became a size 4 city with four city improvements, a settler, a phalanx, and a half-dozen irrigated squares (which were not irrigated the turn before), and one of the 17 began with two settlers ten squares apart (that became a pair of size one cities) without seeing the squares between them.

This anomalous metropolis appeared out of nowhere in one game of mine. :mischief: The poor bugger in the middle isn't faring so well.
