Anyone else play with the city states turned off?

In the setup you can adjust the number of city states and I find the game to be more enjoyable without the city states.

No I like city states and think they are a great addition to the game, it would be boring without them.

i wouldnt mind them so much if I could raze them if I took one. i hate having to keep them.

i find it more fun to improve tiles myself to increase yields as opposed to just buying buffs

Definitely prefer the game with CS then without

I do think you should be able to raze both CS and original capitals - just seems like a copout that you can't

Apart from all the obvious advantages to be had from City States, I have on occasion used them as shooting practice for my units, thus gaining multiple upgrades. You can allways make freinds with them again after upgrades (takes a few turns)!

Answer to your question is NO, City States add such alot to the game.

I don't like city states but I play with them on, because that is how the game was made. I tried playing with them off and liked the game less.
