Don't get around much anymore
In Autumn last year The Duck of Flanders came up with an idea of a new way to play Civ. The Demo game was born, with a President who actually played the game turns, a cabinet who advised the President directly and posted necessary polls for all the issues that came under their remit, and the populace who voted in these polls to direct national policy, and came up with ideas of their own. Despite some difficulties and refinement of the game system, the brave adventurers of the United Fanatica ensured that the name of President Kev will live forever in the annals of Civilization by landing 40,000 colonists on a planet of the star Alpha Centauri in the year 1906. :D
We got a score of 4213 on Emperor level: a Civ rating of 421%!

After this success, we are looking to play another game. The new game will be slightly different from the first, but we are still discussing what level to play on, and whether to play a scenario, a world map or another random game. Come along to the forum and join in the discussions!

We welcome everyone who would like to take part, whether this be a major or minor one. If you want to just have a look at the game, whether through curiosity or looking to learn something about playing on the higher levels then please do. You can make a few posts in a discussion but do not feel obliged to stay and play the whole game if you don't think you can spare enough time. Obviously we would be delighted if people decided to contribute more and joined the game full-time but will not mind if you only want to visit to find out more. :)
The new demo game will also be pioneering a new style of moderation of the forum. Duke of Marlbrough is the moderator of the forum, but since he will be so busy with the Civ 2 GotM then Kev and I have agreed to act as deputies and report those trying to spoil the game or break the forum rules to him for his action as he sees fit. We didn't have too much trouble with the last game and hope that people will want to come together for this communal game of Civ 2. So come to the forum and post your suggestions in the "What to do next?" thread. We've had a great time playing the democracy game and urge others to dust off their copies of Civ 2 and join our glorious nation! :goodjob:

Well way to leave out the pioneering efforts of Presidents CornMaster and AoA, who as the first presidents, set the tone and began United Fanatica on it's historic Journey.

Don't leave out the tireless hours of moderation AoA and I gave the initial forum.....and the hard work and generosity of Thunderfall to set up the permissions and keep it all in order.

If you want to enter a new frontieer of Demo Games I suggest checking out GC or Poly (like in my sig) as we are starting a multisite-multiplayer Demo Game.

There is room for CFC players at GC, and would be honored if you would grace the game with your experience.

We are looking to get underway soon.....Poly is almost finished their game....and you are now done this one....Although at GC we are still in the early AD's we are coming along.

Grand Minister CornMaster (Leader of the Dominion of The Balance), Emperor Talar (Rebel Leader of the KEE Empire. After the fleeing of Emperor Pellaken, now leads The Kingdom of Bendorig), and Emperor Sixchan (Leader of the Evil Empire) are going to lead the GC team in a three-way leadership. Who will lead CFC into this bold, new world of Demo games?

We have three Empires that all pioneered a type of play.
CivFanatics Center = Started the first Demo Game. Highly successful and popular.
Apolyton = Started the first open door Demo Game. Also successful and popular.
GameCatcher = Started the first Multiplayer Demo Game. Popular among members, and successful thus far with lots of action and international politics.

And with the three uniteing to create the Multisite-Multiplayer Demo Game......innovation and success are just a step away!

I didn't mean to offend anyone with my little advert. The Demo game thread is still open and we are thinking about how best to commemorate the game and all those who participated over the centuries. This thread was just an advert for the next one.
I don't think that TF welcomes MP democracy games on this site, and since his decision is final then I doubt that an official CFC team will be able to compete in the game you're planning. I'm sure that if enough people from this site want to play then they can come up with a new name for their team without too much difficulty. Good luck with the MP Corn, and feel free to drop by the next Demo game and offer us the benefit of your advice once we get started. You don't have to stay for long or commit yourself, though that would be good too. :goodjob:

[Note to Duke: Sorry about that I know we shouldnt be trying to shove this stuff down your throat I guess we are a bit over zealous over the possibility of a new game]

I for one congradulate all particapants of the game. Where I think the process that is upon you, making new rules constitutions ect. is best and most interesting part of the game I hope you will be meet with sucsess, creativity, and all else good. Where the leadership of the early members( myself included :smug: ) provided a stable platform to play upon, we shalln't forget the valinte efforts of those who took up the torch during the time which the game's future wasnt so bright. So in all I'd like to say good luck may you achieve high goals and set new standards in this next game. May the principles of Democarcy prove it's superiorty over all else and make a true statment. :)

Hey, can you advertise the Civ3 demogame? ;)

Now that's the kind of threadjacking I like! ;)
Good luck to everyone in the new Civ 3 demogame. I'm not sure that you've set up a new one yet but it seemed to me that you'd finished the last one when I last visited the Civ 3 area. :D I'd be tempted to join in, but the Civ 2 demogame is the priority for me and I don't really understand how your government works. Perhaps Chieftess would like to post some links to the relevant threads to give those of us interested a better idea of how things work. :goodjob:

Yeah and maybe she also could post a link to the thread in which they reach the end of their game with some nice screenshots in it because when I had a look (and I looked closely) I couldn't find any. :(
I'm quite interested in how you guys ended the game.

It looks like the starting date for the multiplayer demo game has been set to september 1st. We could still use some more players, so if you are interested PM me or CornMaster.

Well, neither do most of our citizens, but we are working on that. ;) One of the main attractions of the game seems to be debating rules and constitutional amendments, so if you like a good debate, you might want to check it out.

BTW, the Civ3 Demogame is starting another one. Civ3 Demogame II. It's in the link in my sig. ;)

I'm gonna advertise for both demogames here, since I'm a citizen of both (is that legal?)

In the Civ2 Game of Democracy, well, I don't know much about it, I joined about 2 weeks ago. Come and play!

The Civ3 Game of Democracy is the place for you if you love rules. We're up to our armpits in 'em. Otherwise, it's a nice game. A whole sub-forum is dedicated to our rpg, a very complex game which adds a whole new layer to Civ. In fact, elections are underway right now! I encourage people to join, and run! Even if you don't win, it's still a great place, buzzing with discussion, and an argument or two.

For all new members of the Civ3 demogame, and all who looked at it and thought in confusing, contact me. I'd be more than happy to explain our system of laws.

Subliminal Message: Octavian X for President

The Democracy Games are still going strong.

The second Civ 2 democracy game has been underway for a month and will be having new elections held this week. Our starting terrain is so promising that we actually have to choose between some great spots to put our Super Science City on.

The Civ 3 game is starting up with their second game and will also be having elections soon.

Check them both out and see what the fun is all about. ;)

Well I registered myself for the Civ 3 Demo game and even read all (yes, all ) of the Constitution but I can't seem to find the more important polls in between all the bureaucratic kerfuffle. Such as: Difficulty level, size of world, world type, which civ we'll be, how many and which other civs, barb level, etc. Have these things already been decided or will the people get a say in this? As someone who has no interest in playing at politics is there yet an opportunity to have my say in the direction of this game with running for office or joining a party or whatever? Is there not a general game info section that we can discuss while everyone else gets on with their electioneering?

Subliminal message received: I must vote Octavian X for President. Although that doughnut guy looks quite good too...

All of that stuff was decided immediately after the last game (world size, etc.). The citizens forum is where most discussions take place, though sometimes these end up in the relavent department thread.

BTW, we just started the game a few hours ago, and a screen shot is up of our starting location, so discussions about where to place our settler should be up and running soon.

After fire and destruction ravaged GameCatcher, the starting date will probably have to be put back. Several members were lost from the forum because the backups were deleted so they will have to be added to the teams again.
