I think it's time this company does what blizzard did with SC1, make the game compatible on windows 7 and 10 and fix the graphical glitches. But dont change the actual gameplay mechanics and what not.

I was trying to play a game of civ 2, built a city then the game crashed.

MGE should work in Win 7 and above with aforementioned patches, pay attention to all the Indeo video fixes to get movies working (check technical support).

Civ2 2.42 and Fantastic Words at this time seems to go no further than Win XP.

I played 2.42 with Windows 7,but 32b.

I Forgot about 32bit Win 7, that's probably WHY you can run it as Civ 2.42 (and Civ 2FW exe) is 16 bit but can run under 32 bit. Those exe's will not even start under 64 bit Win 7(though the map builder will). Don't know why I keep playing this game, there seems an accessibility, flexibility and elegant simplicity about it that keeps me returning.

I'm with you and many others on this, I wish
--GOG would or somebody be licensed would remaster to work with 64 bit systems movies and all
--Firaxis would reissue Civ 2 Classic DeluxeMaximum or some such with more modding flexibility

Exciting things happening in TOT patch project though

Hard these to happen, when Civ's world is with eyes on 'Rise and Fall' Civ VI released on 8 february....But the hope dies last.
