New laptop running Windows 8 installed all files ok. But trying to add files for the HOF mod and it won't copy to the C3C Scenarios Folder.

Anyone have this problem with other mod scenarios writing to the Firaxis/C3C/Scenarios folder using WIndows 8???

Thanks in advance!

Windows Vista and later don't like programs that write files under the Program Files folder. To work around this, they use something called VirtualStore.

Installing Civ3 in the default location on Vista, 7, or 8 often causes problems and confusion with save, config and mod files going to unexpected places.

To get around this I recommend uninstalling and then installing in a custom location as shown in the install video in my sig. It will make your Civ3 life easier.

I'm also running Win 8 and try to run Civ III Complete. Had no problems with Win 7 Pro as I never install programs to default. But my laptop runs Win 8. I followed your video and installed Civ III to a custom location in the public folder but the game will not load. I even tried to run in both Win 7 & XP compatibility without any luck. I find myself on my laptop more now a days than my desktop and would like to play the game. Any suggestions?

I downloaded Civ 3 Complete over STEAM. But game crashes and freeze. What to do?

Vladi, I made a Google search. It seems many people have the same problem, but nobody has a proper solution. I´m sorry that I cannot help you.

In my Steam library I have - Civilization 3 Complete and Civilization 5 GK and BNW + Babylon, Polynesia, Celtcs civ. Civilization 5 is good, I can play. But Civ 3 Complete crashes. I make some mod for me and add new units. But sometimes after 7-8 tries I did it, I could test my units some turns, game not crashed.
