Civ 3 Edit Problem

I installed Version 1.29 B2 and now my Civ 3 Edit Program will not open at all. I tried uninstalling everything and then reinstalling it, but still no luck. All my computer says is "The application Civ3Edit has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected." Any ideas? Thanks.

The editor only runs with 1.21. The scenario files you produce using it will open in 1.29b2. but you can't edit 1.29-specific features lke start locations.

Oh, I did not know that...thanks. However, I cannot open the thing at all. Even if I drag it out of the folder and try opening it directly from the desktop. Do I need to install the game twice, one for the original and one for the beta? Or just the Edit Feature again?

Running it from an arbitrary place on your hard drive wil not work.

You have to place the editor application (not inside a folder) at the top level in a Civ3 1.21 application folder. No other config will work. It relies on finding a 1.21 civ3mod.bic file at the same elvel as itself, along with the various art and text folders and files.

So, I need both versions of Civ III on my hard drive. One for editing and the other for the beta?

Correct. I have about a dozen, what with different mods, SGs, GOTMs, test targets for installers ....

Just duplicate the complete application folder if you want two variants of the same version, and rename the new folder - preferably not the application inside.
