civ 3 install issues

I'm trying to install windows on my desktop computer. It's a sony vaio that is operating with Windows XP. At 44% I get a component transfer error:
Component: Program Files
File Group: Program Files
File: E:/data2.cab
Error: Incorrect Function.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

A data2.cab error usually means a dirty disk - try cleaning your disk and trying again.

Thanks GA. I'll try that. I think the problem may be the Windows XP Service Pack 2/2. After I installed the service pack my screen resolution was all messed up and it looked like I was in safe mode. I don't know what that was all about but I believe the reason I'm unable to install has to do with the 2nd service pack. Oh well, I'm going to pick up Pirates tomorrow anyway and take that up for a few weeks.
