Civ 3 Quiz

here's a much simpler question: given a stock 540 turn game, in what year will you be exactly half way finished (i.e. at turn 270 w/270 to go)?

1400 AD

25-Turns @ 50-Years = 1250y ( 2750 bc )
25-Turns @ 40-Years = 1000y ( 1750 bc )(50 turns)
40-Turns @ 25-Years = 1000y ( 750 bc ) (90 turns)
50-Turns @ 20-Years = 1000y ( 250 ad ) (140 turns)
100-Turns @ 10-Years = 1000y ( 1250 ad ) (240 turns)
30-Turns @ 5-Years = 150y ( 1400 ad ) (270 turns)

2 days have passed without Gumby78 asking a question, so I'll ask one to keep the thread alive :)

What is the maximum number of turns a worker will spend on 1 'task' (assuming that he is already standing on the target tile)?
Be specific in your answer - I want to know the task, the tile and any other conditions.

144
Clean polution on mountain for a non industrial SLAVE during anarchy ANARCHY without replaceable parts.

144 is correct :goodjob:
Btw, it's the same number of turns for both a Mountain and Jungle tile.

Go ahead with the next question JMK.

After having found Iron Working, you would be able to see IRON on hills and mountains.
Iron???
Why would one look for Iron?

Assuming I am answering the correct question, you need iron for -

Swordsmen
Pikemen
Medieval infantry
Knights
cannon
Privateer
Frigate
Man-o-war
Costal fortress
Factory
Laying railroad

It has just appeared and swordsmen need Iron ;)
EDIT: If that's what you meant, Those above+Iron Works
EDIT2: Forget it :D

Well Iron has a lot of uses :p
It's used with Coal to build RailRoads.
It's also required for some city improvements; Factory and Coastal Fortress - plus the small wonder called Iron Works.
Iron is also required to build some units, namely Swordsman, Legionary, Immortal, Pikeman, Samurai, Knight, Rider, Cannon, Frigate, Man-O-War, Ironclad and Privateer.

:goodjob: That was the answer I was looking for.
Yes it is a lot of stuff.

Medieval infantry is not a CIV III unit it appears with PTW. ;)

If you're playing on Emperor, and have a city sized 20 - without ANY improvements except for Aqueduct/Hospital and Marketplace - how many luxuries would be needed to keep the city from rioting?
Note: Assume that we're playing with 0% lux tax, no entertainers, and it's peace times.

Actually, you need 8 luxuries. You start with -19 happiness (one is born content, the other 19 are unhappy). The luxes add 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4 happiness and you need to be >=0 to avoid rioting.

Correct! :D

You are right you need >= 0 to avoid rioting, but Luxury change 1 unhappy citizen to HAPPY allowing you to run a size 3 city with no problem with 1 HAPPY :D , 1 CONTENT :) and 1 UNHAPPY :(
With 8 Luxuries and a Market Place you will have 20 :D HAPPY citizen, sure you won't have any rioting but you do not need so many luxuries as you can have as much as UNHAPPY citizen than HAPPY one to avoid rioting.

What are the best odds an immortal can have vs. a modern armor?

Arathorn

Elite Immortal fortified in a Metropolis founded on a Hill will win on defense 12.6% against a regular Modern Armor.

Fortified in hill metro MA attacks from across a river. 2*1.5(Fortify)*2(hill)*2(Metro)*1.25(river) total-15 to 24

JMK, a luxury does NOT change an unhappy to happy. Never has. Hopefully never will. A luxury will make a content citizen happy or an unhappy citizen content (if there are no content citizens), but it will NEVER make an unhappy citizen happy.

And no correct answers yet. BTW, a correct answer will include the exact odds of the MA winning and the situation under which it will do so.

Arathorn

Regular Modern Armor attaking accross a river an Elite Immortal fortified in a Metropolis founded on a Hill will win 85.3% of the time.
