Civ 4 Complete - DVD not recognised

Hi - I bought my copy of Civ IV Complete today, and my computer won't recognise the DVD.

From reading a few other posts here, I have tried updating my firmware, but it still won't recognise the disc. It is recognised on other computers, and my computer will run any other disc, just not this one.
Does anybody know how I could get round the copy protection in any way, to be able to install it? Or what could be triggering it not to run?

This is very frustrating, considering I've gone and bought the disc legally. Am extremely unimpressed with Take2, and in future i'll think i'll simply download a cracked version of their games - at least those ones work! If they're going to sell me games that are so overprotected they won't even run, then I won't buy them - simple as.

Help very much appreciated - I'd quite like to play it, to say the least!

I don't think you'll be getting any advice on getting around the copy protection here, for whatever reason, I'm afraid...

however getting Safedisk to recognize your genuine disc is within forum rules:
sometimes it refuses to work if compatibility mode is set - sometimes it requires it - play around with this setting.
are you running any virtual drive/emulation software? disable it.
are there any background programs running (antivir stuff) try disabling it.
