Eb in Maryville, TN shows it in stores on Oct. 26th.

Nooooooooooooo!!!!! :help:That's where I've got mine pre-ordered, as I'll be visiting home from college this weekend through the 25th...and then I have to leave Maryville and come back to Nashville on the 25th, before I get mine. I'm going to shoot myself. :suicide:

yay!:woohoo:

Now, please, all you Americans: when you get it in five days, will you kindly take a few minutes to tell everyone else here what you think of it? Some of us will have to wait a week still, or more! Please, we beg of you!

what exactly does going gold mean ? does it mean they made a certain number of sales? i only preordered and eb games doesnt charge till they ship

i remeber reading soemwhere(i cant remeber where) that the disc that would be sent to copying/manufacturing was gold hence the term "going gold"

can someone with experience enlighten us?

Already been answered at least twice in this thread if you read up on it. But it means - as you say - that the gold master disc has been sent to copying/manufacturing.

I'm still kinda confused.

The release date is 10/25, but my EB games say they would have it on the 26th... so does that mean I should preorder with GameStop instead?

Update: I called the local GameStop and they assured me that the game will be in store on the 25th, whereas I called EBgames and the rude clerk told me it would be in on the 26th and treated me like a kid :-(

Now I'm gonna cancel my pre-order with EB even if it comes on the 25th :-( They were too rude.

While I won't apologize for the EBGames clerk beign rude (that's totally un-kosher), I will say one thing: GameStop promising to have it on the 25th may also upset you, as they very likely won't have it until the 26th (or if our AoE 3 experiences are any indication, the 27th)

I called my EBgames today (in Toronto, Ontario) and they told me it will definatly be in on the 25th. However, Im not gonna hold my breath, just incase. I expect the 26th will be more acurate.

I guess now is not a good time to tell you Firaxis accidentally shipped the Gold Master to me and thus it will not be available for retail until I have finished playing it through a couple of times and sent it back to the publisher.

Oh, what's this . . .I see something entitled "Hot Coffee Mod" . . . . "OH NO SID! HOW COULD YOU!" Boy is the ESRB gonna be mad about this!

"ot" nice pictures from your canon sd300 ;) nice composition you got

anyhow i dont blame you for canceling your order with eb games because of a rude clerk

however no matter where you order it the store will recieve it on the 24th or 25 and it reaches the shelf the next day AFTER they check it into inventory

why they dont do it as quick as we do? no idea maybe they arent as efficient

i used to buy a lot of my games at a eb store in manhattan mall

where the manager(his name was alan but he had quit a long time ago)
used to give us the ip address of his unreal tournement server so we (his customers) can join in the fun now that was service above and beyond what is required and thats exactly why us gamers kept coming back to that particular franchise even tho across the street there was a gamestop/software etc nowadays i go to gamestop they seem much more friendlier and less paranoid and colder compared to the new eb store employees of course tehre are always exceptions every store is different
and i am talking about the manhattan (new york) midtown stores

This is a fallacy - we have games on the shelf as soon as we get them in stock. I was selling AoE3 yesterday out of the FedEx box, BEFORE I'd checked it into inventory! the computer showed -8 quantity by the tim ei Finalized the shipment.

And please stop telling people they'll get their game on the 24th! The press release states the game won't even SHIP until the 25th, so for obvious reasons, seeing it on the 24th is somewhat hopeless. The game SHIPS on the 25th and we will most likely receive it in stores on the 26th -- we will PROMPTLY begin selling it upon receipt.

The ONLY time we hold games after receipt prior to sales is when they are specifically street-dated to a particular date. Case in point, F.E.A.R. PC : we got the game on Wednesday of last week, but it had a 10/18/05 Street Date - we are contractually required to wait until 10/18 to sell it.

Rayanth is right (obviously, since he works for EB). I've walked into EB and have had them pull new games right out of the fedex box and sell them. Of course the one I go to doesn't really even HAVE a back room...
