CIV 4 is a Piece of Crap

Yeah man, I cant take it anymore. I wish I never would have bought the stupid game. I wish I could warn everyone, tell them what a nightmare it has been trying to get this game to work.

1 Gigabyte DDR-400 RAM (Dual channel)
MSI 6600GT graphics card
Sound Blaster Live 24 Bit Sound
MSI Neo-4 Motherboard
Seagate 10,000 RPM Cheetah drive

All of my hardware is top-notch. I have all of the latest drivers installed. Nothing is overclocked.

Instead of just whining about the game why don't you maybe ask other members if they might be able to help. I run this game on a LapTop with a ATI Mobility Radeon X600 w/128MB and have very little graphics problem with everything set to the max. The few problems I do have don't affect the game play and several others are noticing the same so I know it isn't my hardware. You might want to check some of your configuration settings for you card.

Yeah man... im running 1.52

And I dont need to ask members how to fix the game... because they dont know... hell....Firaxis dont even know how apparently.

Ive been on this forum for weeks, Harks patch seemed to make it a little better... I actually finished THREE games with his patch. I cant get very far with 1.52 and the game crashes with memory errors.

My computer is Prime95 stable... I can run Memtest86 for days...

I have finished the following games on this machine:
Far Cry
Quake 4
Doom 3
Rome - Total War
Dungeon Siege 2
Unreal Tournament 2004
many others.....

Only this piece of crap Civ 4 crashes... on a consistent basis too. In fact it crashes eventually *every* time I play it.

Know whats funny? I have another computer... a little less powerful... An Athlon XP 2000+ with 1 gig RAM. an old geforce2 video card. Its my old computer before i bought this new one. Civ 4 crashes on THAT ONE TOO.

Its no mystery to me... theres a problem with the game itself.

In fact allow me to go one step further...

ATTN: Firaxis - You need to hire a new lead programmer, the guy you have now doesn't know what hes doing.

For the record, I've tried civ4 on 3 computers, and it worked immeaditly with no problems (one a laptop), and the second one a 3 year old desktop that only had the black terrian issue until 1.09 came out. They didn't do a horrible job, if they did, then you wouldn't be seeing all of the visitors all on the civ4 forums. I understand how frustrating it is to have civ4 and it not work, simular things have happened to me, but if civ4 really is the "peice of crap" like you say, than you woundn't be having Thunderfall enduring crashing server like he is now.

As to your problem with your graphics card, I have heard that going back to a previous driver version has helped (though I don't know how true or if it is applicable to your problem), maybe you want to try that.

I am getting the same type of error - message comes up when first wonder movie plays...

Because i am on a low spec machine I set to the low quality settings as well...

worked better with 1.09 currently on the latest patch1.52

System specs aside; this is has to be the worst game I have ever been addicted too. A regular or normal game of Civ is so boring that I have yet to finish anymore than half a dozen. As far as the scenarios are concerned; they have such potential that I keep loading them, starting them, and quitting from boredom.

My point is this - this game is just downright disappointing.

I can't think of a reason why the game doesn't run well on your pc Scorpious Ogre which makes it even tougher to fix.

You must have passed with flying colors at Civ Anon. I know I am totally adicted to Civ... it doesn't mean I'm good...I just like to play it...

I feel your pain. My game crashes every 30 mins or so. 1.52 made things worse.

everything updated and current. Game just crashes during play.

Have you updated your video card drivers? nVidia has said that the drivers for the 6*** series were hosed with respect to Civ4 and has an updated set.
