Hi all,

Long-time reader of the forums, finally registered cause I have a question. I just bought a new Dell XPS 420, and I've loaded Civ 4, warlords, and colonization and haven't been able to play ANY of them yet.

Basically what happens is whenever I put the CD in to load up the game, a small little window pops up and it looks like the game is loading, then the screen turns black, nothing happens, and the monitor shuts off (the computer is still on). But there is nothing I can do and I have to restart my computer.

The specs are:
Intel® Core™2 Q8200 Quad-Core (4MB L2 cache,2.66GHz)
8GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
ATI RADEON HD 3650

Any help is much appreciated! I've been looking forward to seeing how fast this game would run, and it is doing absolutely nothing! HELP!

Yes, I can install the games, I just haven't been able to PLAY them. and I am using Windows Vista.

Any ideas??

 sorry I did not read the thread title :hide:

in Vista it is often necessary to install the game with admin rights. You can try to make sure that the .exe has admin privileges - if that does not work it may be necessary to reinstall making sure that all installers and patches have admin rights :)

I tried that but it still just ended up looking like it was going to load, but then the monitor flips off and I cant play....

Any other ideas??
