CIv 4 wont open after installation

hi. I have sucesfully installed civ 4 and when i click on the civ 4 icon, the icon bounces in the dock but then disapears and does not open. I have installed the 1.74 patch but still it still will not open!!. I read something that it might be because i have installed version 7.6 quicktime. Can someone please help. mac os x 10.4.11 1.8ghz powerpc g5.

You need the latest version of Quicktime. Check in Software Update.

ok will try that.. wa thinking f doing that but unsure as i read that it ddnt work because i had already updated qt to 7.6.. here goes anyway.

updated quicktime to 7.6.4 from 7.6.0.... still not working. exactly same thing is happening. any ideas~?
