Hi everyone,

I originally installed civ4 vanilla and warlords on my windows 7 laptop about 14 months ago. Had no problems installing or playing...Then, about a year ago, i ordered Beyond the sword (BTS). Again, installed it, played and had no problems...
Unfortunately, I don't like BTS (no offense to BTS fans).
So, I just uninstalled it today to go back to playing regular civ4...

The weird thing is, after the BTS uninstall, when I try to play civ4 regular, the civ4 loading screen comes up (with the different languages, etc) and then absolutely nothing happens--no error, no freeze, no crash, no game--nothing... just windows desktop

Anybody got a clue what's going on?

Ok guys,

Solved my problem above...
Hopefully, this info will help someone else ...

To reiterate: I installed gold first--ie, vanilla and warlords with no problems. Couple of months later--i installed bts with no problems.
got sick of bts recently so I uninstalled it. This had the added side-effect of not allowing you to play vanilla or warlords which are already installed as options to play even before removing bts.
after uninstalling bts, could not play vanilla (just loading screen and nothing else)

Obvious solution: Uninstall everything (bts, warlords, vanilla) and reinstall just GOLD (ie, vanilla warlords). It WORKED

I read about this problem on the web and heard that some people were patching and getting into further problems. I never patched--just a clean reinstall...

hope this helps

Usually a good plan ... A full re-install. Uninstallers are often not very clean, hence why there are so many utilities on the web to try to fix what these cause.
