Civ 5 1.0.2.13 DX10/11 Crash

I'm getting a crash with the new patch when I start the game in DX10/11 mode. I've tried verifying my files, which didn't fix the issue.

We optimized specifically for your graphics chip-set, but it requires a driver update from Intel (they did a good amount of driver work specific to Civ 5).

Update this driver with the most recent, and let me know if it does the trick.

Your dxdiag says you're running on Intel video. Do you have an nVidia card in there as well? If you do, you're not currently using it.

The dxdiag also lists a nvidia card..

(but as you say.. it also says the intel card is used for display)

Probably the dell switching between graphics. DXDIAG always reports the intel thing. The nVidia should be used while gaming. Update the intel drivers, otherwise try to disable intro videos

Hrm - I went to the Intel driver check and it said I was running on the nVidia card, not Intel. In which case I'm using a GT-540M with a version 286 driver. When I updated the nVidia driver pre-patch Civ 5 would crash after 2 turns of gameplay

Both of you need to update your Intel video drivers. Please start there and let me know if this corrects the problem.

the program exits as soon as I start (started to happen after patch)
my dxdiag is attached.

this is very frustrating, because it happened with my previous patch install too. I remember I had to do a bunch of things, and I'm not sure which one worked (voodoo fixes like deleting movie files or similar things)

Do you know of a more reliable way to fix it after every patch?

We normally require service pack 3 with win XP, so you're living below min spec. But lets try some of the voodoo to start.

To begin, let's go into the civ 5 root directory and delete the wmv files, then go into the "assets/dlc/expansion directory, and delete those movie files. Start it up again and see if it helps.

Will run fine on Dx 9 but Dx 10 will not start. Have gone to download all latest video card drivers for Intel. Did not help. Will play in 9 but not as pretty. What info is needed to try and fix? I have Nvidea Geforce GT 555M Thank you.

I've pretty much the exact same computer as Poukai, though my driver is slightly more up to date.

The intel driver update process claims that the driver I have is the most up to date one.

Suspecting an error I went along to the download centre and, it would appear, that this is the latest one (15.28.8.64.2875). However, during setup it returned an error saying that the driver was not appropriate to the machine and setup closed. So, maybe it isn't...

It might help if you could identify which driver we're meant to have because, as far as the automated update process is concerned, the driver is up to date.

Okay, so although I haven't been able to update my Intel drivers (Can't get it to register I have an Intel product, device keeps picking up nVidia) I updated my nVidia driver and now I can start the game and play but the loading times for terrain etc. are as bad as they were probably 10-12 months ago on DX9
