Hello,
As its my first time posting on here i may not know many of the rules, but im sure im within the lines on posting this problem in this thread. Eithe way, when i start a new game, with or without mods, the game will let me settle a city but crashes when i attempt to move my warrior for his first movement. no details are given about why. i have no clue what to do, ive reinstalled the game and tried without mods. Save games are similar when trying to load, except they crash as soon as continue journey is clicked. any suggestions would be nice.

Welcome to CFC! Your post is fine for this forum.

Did you always have this problem? I ask because you say you have some save games. If the game worked OK in the past, did the problem start after a patch to the game, or some other change to your system? Do you play vanilla Civ 5, or Gods and Kings? Please post your DxDiag file. It will give us more detailed information about your system. Thanks!

Where exactly do i find my dxdiag files? sorry, im not very good at the technical sides of computers.

The underlined text in my prior post is a link that explains how to provide a DxDiag file.

Its in the attatchments, i hope this helps. it seems when i tried to run it the first time it caused a crash and asked to not run the 3d direct diag the second time.

Your graphics card (Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics) may not be powerful enough to play the game, but the DxDiag file is incomplete. Try setting all your video options as low as possible and see if that helps. To do this, from the Civ 5 main menu select OPTIONS and then VIDEO OPTIONS. Change all the settings to Minimum. Start a new game. Does that help?

I did dxdiag again, and didnt bypass the 3d direct x. i will go and try the minimum settings suggestion, but ive ran it at full settings for a few months now and this problem just started a week ago.

Thanks. Yes, try lowering your video settings. Also trying playing in DX9 if you're using DX11 (Let me know if this requires an explanation). However, the main problem is that your video drivers are old (1/27/2011). Now,in this thread, Firaxian dshirk states that they optimized the game for video setups such as yours, but it requires an updated driver:

We optimized specifically for your graphics chip-set, but it requires a driver update from Intel (they did a good amount of driver work specific to Civ 5).

Update this driver with the most recent, and let me know if it does the trick.

Thanks!

However, no one in that thread was able to update their Intel video driver.

Does anyone reading this thread know how to update the drivers for the Intel HD Graphics Family?
