Civ 5 Design Challenge II - Mechanics

Bureaucracy...

But then that means the winner of tarcisiocm's challenge will have their mechanic delayed. And that chain just keeps going. Why not just do two this week instead of forever delaying it for the entire lifetime of this thread?

if I win this one I wont bother coming up with a mechanic, we can do Niao's and then everything will be back to normal - I hope the actual winner does the same thing

So we all agree that who every wins Tarcisiocm's challenge won't post there design and we will go straight to NiaoMeows challenge and who ever wins NiaoMeow's challenge will be the next person to post the next challenge.

OK, that seems like a good compromise.

Why not a special, gold font for tarcisiocm's mechanic's winner on the infographic?

By all means if you win, make up a mechanic, I just said that if I win I don't care about not accepting a 'prize'

That could work.

That's fine. Oh yeah when does voting start? Was it this Friday? Or was it Sunday?

I think that Religious victory seems like it would be a cool idea. I'm surprised it isn't in Vannila

Vanilla civ is lacking a lot of victory conditions. Speaking of victory conditions I think I may have found a civ to do.

So after some thinking and some frantic research, I have come up with a civ for this particular challenge. So I hereby present to you, Batu Khan of the Golden Horde! (Note this design has been edited since it was first posted).

UA: Khan, Tsar and Shahanshah
Unlocks a unique victory condition for the Golden Horde, (called the Tributary Victory) which requires you to own one third of all cities and the capital of three different civilizations before the Industrial era. On the condition that those cities are puppetted, on top of the victory condition the Golden Horde receives +1 :c5moves: movement for all mounted units and puppetted cities produce 5% more :c5gold: gold (max 35%).

UU: Mingghan (knight replacement)
Unique range mounted unit that replaces the knight and is only avaliable to the Golden Horde, the unit has a fighting :c5strength: strength of 17. Has the great generals I and accuracy I promotions.

UU: Yam (stable replacement)
Unique stable replacement for the Golden Horde, on top of it's normal benifets the Yam makes all pastures within a city produce +1 :c5food: food. Raises the combat :c5strength: strength of a city by 5 and cities that have a Yam built inside of them gain a city :c5trade: connection with another city that has a Yam.

Yeesh, 7 movement ranged knights. Would not want to fight that.

So after some thinking and some frantic research, I have come up with a civ for this particular challenge. So I hereby present to you, Batu Khan of the Golden Hoard!

UA: Khan, Tsar and Shahanshah
Before the industrial era, may win the game if you own a third of the world's cities and three foreign capitals, as long as a third of your empire is :c5puppet: puppeted. Mounted units gain +1 :c5moves: movement and an additional :c5moves: movement point in open terrain. +5% :c5gold: gold in puppet cities.

UU: Mingghan
Unique range mounted unit that replaces the knight. +1 :c5moves: movement, though its weaker than the knight(17 :c5strength:\:c5rangedstrength:). Has the great generals I and accuracy I promotions.

UU: Jochid
Unique great general replacement for the Golden Horde. Rather than the great general's abilities, the Jochid grants +20% :c5strength: strength to friendly units and may be used to subjugate enemy cities once, bringing them under your control as :c5puppet: puppets while retaining 66% of their population.
(Doing so does not consume the unit and requires 2 adjacent units)

FTFY. Thought you could use a shorter version...

btw it's Golden Horde, not Hoard. And the design fits Mongolia more, if you change the names. They even replace the same units.

And now, my design:

Nazi Germany(Adolf Hitler)
UA: Lebensraum
May win the game if the amount of births in your empire is greater than the amount of births in non- allied civilizations. Specialists grant +1 :c5culture: culture and reduce :c5unhappy: unhappiness rather than increasing it, in addition to contributing their yields towards :c5production: production during :c5war: wars.

UU: Wehrmacht
Replaces Great war infantry, but doesn't obsolete. Has the "Final solution" promotion, which makes it kill 50% more :c5citizen: citizens when capturing a city. Additionally, it gains extra XP when you adopt a policy.

UB: Adolf Hitler School
Replaces public school. In addition to its effects, the Adolf Hitler school will also grant +1 :c5culture: culture per every 3 :c5citizen: citizens in the city after adopting an ideology. Contains an additional specialist slot.

Decisions:
Spoiler :
Adopt the Furherprinzip
Requirements: must own at least one foreign :c5capital: capital, must have built at least 5 courthouses, must have researched industrialisation.
Costs: 2 magistrates, 50×number of courthouses :c5gold: gold
Rewards: :c5happy: Happiness and military buildings grant +2 :c5culture: culture, Government buildings grant +1 :c5happy: happiness.

Develop Blitzkrieg
Requirements: Must have a great general in your capital, must have researched flight, must have at least 4 armoured units.
Costs: 2 magistrates, The great general is consumed.
Rewards: Armor and air units gain the blitz promotion, and all other units gain the ability to move after attacking in addition to getting +1 :c5moves: movement after performing it.

Note: the UA basically means that if the number of (living)citizens born in your empire is greater then the number of citizens born in all non allied civilizations combined, you win the game.
