Senshidenshi wins, now someone go call NiaoMeow for his mechanic.

Niao your a terrible person. I absolutely adore you.

@Kilsz: lol didn't you here Benjamin Netanyahu? Its not Hitler's idea, its the Mufti's fault.
(In case this wasn't clear, I don't really think that.)

Uf I'm all for creative and difficult challenges but I feel like this is just devolving into who can remove the most central game mechanic as their challenge and make everyone else dance through hoops for them. I for one don't want to be here when the challenges are things like

"May not be a civilisation and is instead a low fat salad dressing"
"Lose the game upon producing a unit, settling a city, starting the game or thinking about starting the game"
"May not be used in the game Civ V and must be played on a real monopoly board"

Like sometimes you can be too unique guys.

Yeah I agree with that. Units and/or cities not being able to heal is really a detriment. I'm only going to apply this only to the UU of the civ I have in mind because I think it would be a terrible decision to apply it to the UA.

Same, making this mechanic a UA would be disastrous for the player and the AI, (if they play the civ). So since three people (including myself) have voice their concern with the current mechanic. Should we stick to it? Or have a vote for a more game friendly mechanic and maybe risk a voting stalemate. I already have a mechanic in mind so it wouldn't takae long for me to post.

Spoiler :
Corn Republic, as led by Donald Turnip

Unique Ability: Peas for our Time
The Corn Republic wins if the entire map is littered with vegetables (see below). Does not start with a Warrior. Food :c5food: received from city-states adds to a counter, and when the counter is filled, gain a Salad Dressing.

Unique Unit: Salad Dressing
The Unique Settler of the Corny Republican civilisation. May not found cities. A Salad Dressing may convert the tile it is on into a Wheat, Carrots, Beans, Garlic or Mushroom resource (chosen randomly), which expends the unit. After three turns, a vegetable resource may randomly turn into one, two or three Salad Dressings.

Each Vegetable Resource has a bonus: Wheat adds +1 food :c5food:, Carrots add +2 food :c5food:, Beans add +1 food :c5food: and +1 production :c5production:, Garlic adds +2 production :c5production: and Mushroom causes enemy units to take damage.

Unique Improvement: Chili Garden
May only be built in Tundra or Snow. Replaces the resource on the tile with a copy of the Chili Luxury Resource. Can be made by Salad Dressings. If a Salad Dressing is on a Chili tile, it can move it onto another tile, and if that tile belongs to another civilisation, gain a large amount of gold :c5gold: that can only be used on city-state friendships and allies.

But seriously though, I actually don't have a problem with the mechanic (after all, we can change it a bit), but if others want it to be changed I have no problem.

I lol'd here:

But this guys, this is perfection. Donald Turnip will make our nation great again.

I'm going to give up my gilded prize for consistency's sake.

Hmm... this one's intriguing... I might need to do another Ravnica civ, actually...

I dunno, I think there's some possibilities -- as Uighur_Caesar mentioned, I could see some interesting ideas for it as part of a UU... although my thoughts are leaning towards more fanciful than historic ones. :P

Still, as Urdnott_Scott suggests, future winners may wish to propose ideas that are less focused on removing player options, and more on encouraging different playstyles. :3

EDIT: And NiaoMeow gets my mind percolating in even more directions... hmmmm~

So we're going ahead with this? Ok then, I think I'll do a science fiction country for the first time. Either the Covenant for their Arbiters, or Warhammer Fantasy Dwarfs for their Slayers.
