Civ 5 Design Challenge II - Mechanics

I didn't know you were Muslim, Sgt, good luck on your trip - sounds exciting!

Really? What did you think I was? Also thanks! I'll be doing stuff in the UAE before I go do the actual Umrah, should be interesting.

I hope I don't get sun burnt on my head, that would suck.

Seriously? I thought something less thematic would be nice...

Well, that was fast.

Let´s go with...

"Upon Circumnavigation of the world"

Portugal (John II)

UA: Explorers at Sea -
All units can embark immediately and have +1 moves :c5moves: on Sea and Deep Ocean tiles. Whenever a new civilization, city-state or natural wonder is discovered gain a small boost to national yields, but once the whole world map has been discovered gain a large boost to all national yields (:c5culture:, :c5gold:, :c5science:) and gather a boost to tourism with all known Civilizations.

UU: Navigator (Replaces Caravel) -
Has +2 more moves :c5moves: than a normal Caravel, but has a lowered strength. (16 :c5strength:)

UB: Docks (Replaces Harbor) -
Whenever you a Naval unit is produced :c5production: (not bought) gain a small boost to Food :c5food: in the city where it was produced. All Naval units gain the "Discovery" promotion giving them +1 sight.

I hope it's okay to use vanilla leaders. All my ideas are Elizabeth or involve Conquistadors/Tercios.

England (Elizabeth)

Singeing the Beard

All units gain +1 movement and sight for the first five turns of war. Half the damage done to a city damages any garrisoned unit and is removed from city production. Upon circumnavigating the world, all naval units receive an instant promotion.

Buccaneer (Privateer)
Foreign trade routes passing within a Buccaneer's sight yield gold equal to a third of what the owner receives.

Shipyard (UI)
Unlocked at Metal Casting. May only be built adjacent to a coastal city. Yields 2 production and 1 gold with an additional +2 production upon researching industrialization. Sea trade routes from a city working a Shipyard may travel 25% further and build naval units 10% quicker.

:c5strength: Mactan :c5strength:
:c5capital: Lapu-Lapu
Lapu Lapu

UA: Mangatang
Pillaging :trade: trade routes provides :c5culture: culture if the civilization has a higher culture output than you and :c5science: science if the civilization has more discovered technologies than you. It does not require a declaration of war. Military units receive a permanent 15% :c5strength: strength bonus against civilizations that had discovered civilizations than you or had explored more tiles than you upon meeting them. The bonus is doubled if the civilization had circumnavigated the globe upon meeting you.

UU: Datu
Replaces :c5greatperson: great general. Receive one free upon meeting a civilization that has discovered more technologies than you. The :c5strength: combat bonus a Datu provides to nearby units extends to sea units and is doubled when combatting a civilization that has discovered gunpowder.

UU: Balangay
Replaces trireme. Available earlier, at pottery, and much cheaper, at only half the :c5production: cost. Lower :c5strength: combat strength, at 8. Balangays can build fishing boats without being destroyed and, when stationed on the path of an international :trade: trade route, provides +2 :c5food: food to your nearest city. Limit one food bonus per route.

I don't want to make a Spain or Vikings design, so... Instead I'll bend the prompt a little bit.

I'm Filipino(-American), if that is unclear

North Sentinel Island

UA: Need not of your world

Gain a boost to culture and science based on the number of civilizations that you currently have not met. Embassies in your capital do not reveal its location.

UU: Replacing the spearman, this unit has a unique promotion which grants +75% damage when in friendly territory, decreasing to +25% when any civilization circumnavigates the globe.

UB: Replacing Walls, this building costs twice as much maintenance and has an increased production cost, but deals 10 damage to any unit disembarking onto the continent this building is found on, providing no other civilizations have founded a city there. Furthermore, this building prevents enemy civilizations from being able to see inside your territory unless you have open borders or are at war.

Does the World Congress reveal the capital?

Going with another SupCom design...

Earth Empire
UA: Pax Hominum
Gain :c5production: production towards settlers in the :c5capital: capital whenever your empire gains a new tile. Cities grant a sum of :c5science: science upon settling, and grant that amount again once you circumnavigate the globe.

UB: Quantum Gateway
Replaces the Airport. However, airlifting units to a city with a Quantum gateway will not consume their movements. Additionally you may transfer air units between cities with Quantum Gateways regardless of their distance, and doing so for the first time in a city would spawn a free unit.

UU: Clone Colonist
Replaces settler (Colonist with CiD). Cities founded by these units start with an additional :c5citizen: citizen and an additional tile for each era passed. It also may defend itself, with :c5strength: strength varying based on your technological development. No vision penalties and +1 :c5moves: movement while embarked, and additional +1 vision and +1 :c5moves: movement after globe circumnavigation.

No gate system Natan?

Edit saw it! Nice design, kinda complicated though? Also how long since Natan posted? For vote reasons.

Thank you :D always nice to get feedback, even though I don't really like the idea of fictional designs in those contests, it seemed like a reasonable thing here... I couldn't really come up with anything else.
Yes, its a bit complicated, but... Oh well :p

I think 40ish hours ago

Then a vote is at hand!

Your welcome! Yeah I'm funny about using fictional civs as well, they're a last resort for me (all though I like my Karak Kadrin design I came up with a few pages back). Yeah oh well, at least you tried!

Are we certain? Only five designs. Ah well, I suppose I'll say DudeWiththeFood

2-1-1, lets get some more votes in here
