Civ 5 Mac menu titles not appearing

When I launch civ 5 (which I recently bought from Steam) the title sequence plays, however, when the menu appears, any words that would usually appear on any subtitles or links are blank. All links are accessible, but I have no idea what they direct me to.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Please check the integrity of the game's files within Steam.
This should redownload everything which is broken.

Open Steam, go to "Library", make a right click on Civ5, go to "properties" and select then the tab "local files".
There you should find an option to verify the game data (or similar worded). Just hit that button a few times, and then try to play again.

Thanks! But I tried this several times (I even tried reinstalling the game) but it refuses to show up. Any other advice you can give me? I'm pretty sure my mac can run it.

mmhh...please check the subfolders of your Civ5 installation.
Somewhere should be a folder XML\Text. Delete that text folder, and then try to validate the files again.
