Civ 5 Playthru -How to Conquer the World by being Poor, Upset and Massively Outgunned

This was great reading lemmy!

Im also looking forward to how your new british game will play out

To lemmy, or anyone else:

Is there a simple way to take screenshots? I don't see the nice automatic name and store feature here that I saw in Civ 4, and I don't seem to be able to minimize the game and get back to desktop, like I could with the windows key in Civ 4. So what is your screenshot taking mechanic (wonder if that differs between disk versions and download versions)?

dV

Hitting printscreen does save them to a screenshots folder, so you don't have to constantly alt-tab out (found this out AFTER I did a 65 screeshot story). Sadly, they save as humungous .tga files and you have to convert them to something civilized before uploading them.

It saves them to your My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ScreenShots folder.

So how does it name them ... by consecutive numbers, I suppose?

no printscreen button on your keyboard? Even still, you'll have to paste it from the clipboard to an empty file.
 yes, I have that, but was looking for something simpler than close game, copy to paint every time I want one. Seems they autosave although with who knows what name, and is some size hog format.

dood....this thread was awesome! i read the whole thing start to finish! Have been listening to civ 5 podcast to learn about all new features which just got me all excited, then i read this... now am seriously entering civ 5 obsession and i don't even own the game yet! Great sense of humour through the whole thing too, a very enjoyable jaunt through an intriging new world haha.

btw i LOVE your profile pic LOL. Hope you do another thread like this one soon, i learn alot watching playthroughs.

Why do I have a feeling the people of Alpha Centauri will long have a saying involving stupidity and Babylonians? And their kids will say 'Daddy, what's a Babberonian?' and the parent will just laugh and laugh. But then they will sigh, and the mood will suddenly turn serious, and they will begin to lecture the curious child about the dangers of being a thicko.

This was my favorite bit of prose.

Great write-up. Thanks a lot! :king: Now I just have to wait on Amazon for my copy next week....

thanks a lot for that epic (his)story lemmy ! that was lot of fun to read you and it made my day less look like hell at work :goodjob:
can't wait for tonight since the release is today in fance :D

This is fantastic! I haven't even read the whole thing yet, having a hard time keeping up I think just using my spare time while at work, on my phone...lol.

Also, did I read someone say Lemmy was gonna play a next game as the English, is that right? Rock on! :P (much to Grunthex's consternation, I'm sure lol those filthy English lol)

I'm playing as the English now. Very fun navy, especially with great lighthouse and eventually naval tradition, hmm, yes...

Fake edit: saw Lemmy,s English post in the forum lol

Just one of the many people here who had to register just to say thanks for providing us with this, read through all 26 pages, fantastic thread lemmy! I'm still very much a Civ noob but I think I'll try China (I'm also Chinese so it was great to see Wu Ze Tian do so well!) on a harder difficulty setting next time just to keep it interesting. The Earth map looks interesting too, I'll have to take a look at that.

Now I'm off to read "Lemmy the Indecisive...". Your forum avatar - is that Dylan Moran from Black Books? He's my favourite stand-up comedian by far! No wonder you're so funny! :D

It is indeed and possibly my favourite comedian too his stand up is legendary. :D

Also thanks! :)

if you get to -10 happiness, you also lose 50% production.

don't ask me how I know this. ;)
Very easy to find it. Have a frail balance on your happiness keeping it only positive and try to raze a lot of cities. Until they bite the dust you will have tons of unhappiness

You have made me positively decide to buy this game when the opportunity arrives. I hope Best Buy runs it on sale soon. I doubt it, but I can hope.

You have been both entertaining and informative. :worship:
Thank you

Don

+1! This thread is the best thing that's come out of a civver for a while! Haha great read, this is making me want the game even more (too bad the demo runs like molasses :()

Great topic, I would never thought I would read the whole 26 pages but I did lmao.

Also :

I would recommend Prince, to be honest. What I'm finding here is I'm having more fun when I'm behind. In Civ 4 I liked to be in front, but if you're in front and have the best economy and the best everything then I suspect this is probably where all the accusations of simplicity have come from.
This is spot on.

I was feeling a bit "meh" about my current 9 hour long (first ever) game, and this is it, i need to restart in a harder difficulty.

Thanks again and keep the adventures coming. :D

I loved this thread. There has to be some cruel joke when China rampages across Africa, Asia, and Europe with rocket artillery and infantry but can't find the Americas.
