Civ 6 Doesn't Load Past the Leader Loading Screen

I have a game with Sumeria where I've reached the future tech and was really far along, and Civ worked for me for three days before now it's starting to have problems. Everything works fine until I chose my save and click load, then it brings me to the leader loading screen and the narrator says the whole thing about "Life beneath water" and stuff, but then it just doesn't go past that.

I've heard about people saying to use Windows Defender and make the folder exempt, but I've tried this already and it didn't do anything. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
