Civ Add-on/Expansion Pack Ideas

Communist countries should be made easier to get plunged into revolution. Once, I was fighting a Communist Persia, and I sieged all cities, destroyed all improvements, cut off all luxuries, and killed off all units in the cities except one. And Persia still did not go into revolution. I think since the USSR collapsed in real life, then communist countries in ci 3 should collapse as well. And also, we culd use bloc politics in civ 3. And Vercengetorix should be leader of the Celts, not Brennus.

That's nonsence.
Communist govt' is not a reason for revolution.
Italy revolted against Mussolini during the war.
Latin America constantly has revolutions.
In this game, it's not good having a revolution during the war, because you can't produce the needed units.

There should be a way to extend an agreement halfway through the agreed period. There should also be a way to refuse to aid an MPP partner if he attacks or is attacked.

I really like that idea of expanding great leaders to include science and entertainment.

In the new expansion pack, I would be most pleased if Firaxis addressed the following issues.

-Nuclear Weapons: these should be far more destructive (all city improvments should be destroyed, including wonders...), and the city should loose another 1/2 of its population in the next 5 turns to radiation. A large enough nuclear strike would also immediately cause a revolution to simulate the political chaos that would follow a large enough nuclear war.

-City View: why do the cities look so weird? Why is there always a huge group of skyscrapers on the right of the screen, and then parkland everywhere else. These cities should change far more radically to represent the look of a modern city.
So when the city gets hooked up to railway, you can see it snake through the city and a large central station appears, as well as some outlying ones.
As a city grows, urban sprawl does too. With a city of 20, the view should show suburbs spreading out into the distance.
Speaking thereof: new improvement - Park - When a city gets large in the industrial era, the city view would show a depressing, large area of slums. A park would be like a cathedral or the like for encouraging happiness. It would be cheap to build, and make one unhappy face content.

I'd like to be able to set "Rivalries" in the editor. For example, India v. Pakistan and Israel v. Palestine. What rivalries would do would make it so those nations always were at war and never make peace. It could also be set so that they would never ally either. I think its ridiculous to play a WWII scenario and see Germany and England ally against the Americans. (That just takes the "reality" out of the scenario.

It's a great idea. as is being able to trade Military Units.

some other ideas (Not all) here are outrageious or just plain stupid it seems.

Do you really think that Firaxis will take all these ideas under consideration? It would take the months of the programming.

here are my ideas:

-There should be two new governments:
Fascism and Constitutional Monarchy

Fascism should have 3 or 4 free units, citizens less likely to become unhappy, no war warriness and a special unit, similiar to the fanatic from Civ II.

Constitutional Monarchy should be like a mix of Democracy and Monarchy. 1 or 2 units free, able to use 1 unit to quell unhappiness, and less war wariness than democracy.

-Some other things:
You should be able to turn entertainers into workers. Workers would add 1 or 2 sheilds, more with a factory, etc.

-Be able to ask a country declare war on another counrty without being allied to them.

-Bring back cruisers.

-Airfields.

-Have ICBM retain the effects they have now, but have tactical nuclear weapons not turn surrounding squares into desert.

I'll post more when I think of it!

Some ideas are stupid I agree with you. Like ''allow space and sea colonising like in CTP'' :D

For me own, I think Firaxis should make is efforts on the actual game not in far away concepts that will change completely the game goals. For me the most importants things must be the apply of more diplomatics fonctions and improvements to the actuals concepts.

But the ''colonising like in CTP'' could be apply only via the editor if possible for poeple who like this concept.:cooool:

No for sure but if Firaxis take care of what fans said here, he can take some directions on what fans want. Take this thread has a suggestions of ways that Firaxis could think about implant to the xp.

POWER TO THE FANS!!!! :hammer:

I personally think you should be able to develop spy satillites, so you can continually monitior certain map areas. Also the option to sponsor Terrorism against an enemy.

And in negotiations you should be able to give an excuse when they reminder you of past betrayals. Eg, they started it etc.

I personally think they should scrap the UU and just make a particular unit cheaper as an alternative, Ie Tanks are Cheaper for the Germans, Jet Fighters for the Americans, etc.

Just my 2 Cents worth...

And replace the Food-transport option. (So we can build up cities (or only two or three main-cities) to 20 or 30 milion inhabitants.

EMERGENCY!!! Whiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!! Whiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!

We need to have a pop up window when a AI getting nuke.

End of message. :scan:

I want a SMAC style government engineering thingy.
like:

Rule: Dictatorship, Republic, Democracy.
Economy: Capitilism, Corporatism, Syndicalism, Communism.
Labour: Payed, Forced, Robot.
Other: Primitive, Green, Industrial, Nationalist.

Im sure Firaxis can do better though :p

I hate it when you sign a mutual protection pact with some country, and then this country goes to war with half the world drawing you into conflict with friendly states.

To avoid this, there should be more options in foreign diplomacy, so you would know the possible consequences.

Also, there should be an agreement for right of passage only for one side, not for both. This would be a great condition for ending a war.

I would like to see a 'Rally' command. Then you could order all units of one type and/or experience level (on a continent) to one location, then regain control of the units once they get there.

what if there was a way to access the foreign advisor screen from a diplomatic meeting to see who the other country was allied with, at peace with, and at war with? that could help you decide if you want to make a mpp or right of passage agreement.

Even worse is this problem:

You have a mutual protection pact with country A and go to war with half the world to protect A. During the war, you attack enemy country B and find out that countries A and B had a mutual protection pact! Now you find yourself at war with former ally A and all the other countries! This is totally stupid.

There should be more information and options in the foreign adviser window to prevent such crap from happening.

I am sure it's been mentioned before.

I would also like to see a "Start/Hold Automatic Moves", on large civs it would give finer control. Sometimes, I "Wait" on each unit until the automatic moves start, this allows me to prevent duplicate moves or allow automated workers a chance to deploy prior to non-automated workers.

When a unit does have 'orders' it would be once to view those orders, rather than just activating units and redeploying them.
