I use this utility all the time but I am pretty sure that I am not getting the full benefit from it.
It took me a while just to find out that I could choose what would show in my alerts. (((sigh)))

I have this little bit of the trade options screen (I think) and for the life of me I don't know what the asterisks mean next to a Civ. so, I would like to know that bit please.:)

I also just recenlty discovered that we can learn a world's Seed number by checking tab 2 in CivAssistII.

I am wondering if other people have some good information and tips about using this utility that will let me get more from it.

I just took a look in my current game's Ca2 trade options. Everyoe has an asterisk except Russia, I am at war with them. I'd hazard a guess that it means trades are possible.

Quite the countrary, it seems. After reviewing a couple of my archives, I see that the asterisk is removed when a valid trade route is established. The asterisk apparently doesn't apply to your enemies, as you obviously cannot trade with them while at war.

The other might be having an embasy.

Does anyone know how to get civassist work on vista. In my case it's doesn't automatically open the new save when ending a turn. Probably because of vista's virtual storage.

Well I've got it working but whether I know how I did it is another matter! I did have to disable User Account Controls to even open it-right clicking to run as an administrator wasn't an available option. After that though I had no issues.

I hadn't even noticed the asterisks. I'll try and keep a lookout but I use MapStat for trading alerts.

I've been unable to get CA2 to work with my games. I can manually load in a save but it doesn't update at the next turn and I'm playing on an XP system. Sigh..

It needs to be set "on lookout", which should allow it to catch new civ saves, which includes autosaves.

* probably means you have an Embassy and a Valid trade route.

When you are at war, Embassies are closed.

I'll check out this possibility in my current game. That might be it.
