CIV Gold!

I made new buttons for the Seminole and Navajo, but it's possible that I overlooked that in the final.

When you look at something 1,000 times, you don't notice things like repeats. Easy enough to add in a patch. Having said that, yeah, I'd love for someone to take on a flag remark. Not the unit flags - only the civ buttons.

What were the Seminole and Navajo symbols you were thinking of using? I made a Navajo flag myself. Not the Navajo Nation flag, since it has geographical connotations (C'mon, is the Navajo land always going to look like that on a map?), but a Navajo design.

I have a good sun-disk decal for Assyria.

Belgium, either the Atomium or a flag of Brussels. (Too many standing lions already!)

Brazil will have the globe from the flag.

The Bolivarian Nations (which really should be named Gran Colombia) will have the Venezuelan star arch.

Chile's changing the llama (good symbol, but it's too stretched on the flag) for a huemul (to be exact, a silhouette of the huemul on the coat of arms).

Cuba will be a palm tree.

Italy will be the flag of Tuscany, as seen in The Capo's diplomacy mod.

Malagasy... I don't know where they got the idea for a tree. Come on, the symbol has to be a lemur!

Sioux will be getting their buffalo back, and the Métis will have an infinity symbol.

That's all I can bring myself to type now.

Man, there are so many LHs that have improved versions. (namely, apart from the aforementioned Stambolov and Christian, Cleopatra, Collins, Sejong, David, Stephen of Hungary, and Suppiliuluma).

The Beowulf LH looks a lot like Canute, by the way.

On a positive note, some leaderheads are pretty cool. I like Seleucus a lot and think he could also be used as Scipio Africanus of Rome. Also, the Lapu Lapu LH amazingly looks a lot less like a reskin than I expected. Give him long hair and make him barechested, I think we've got a quality LH on our hands.

However, Wyz, next time you need to talk to TheLastOne36 and check out his Leaderhead download compilation.

What? NO! It doesn't work for me! I put it in my MODS folder, and when I loaded it, none of the civs/leaders showed up! I renamed it CIV gold 5.0, but how can that have a difference? Please help!

All you need to do is double-click the exe. It will install automatically to the correct location.

Set Modular Loading = 1 in the BtS _CIVconfig file.

You did the installer wrong.
It extracts to C:\Program Files\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\

I'm kinda surprised you left out Taizong. He's an official Firaxis leaderhead.

Also, have you ever considered merging in some more religions from some mod components? It'd go well with the multitude of new leaders/civs. I'll probably end up trying to merge them into my game, wonder if there's a modular religion pack...

I think the lemur is better. Baobab trees grow in Africa and they have been found as far away as planet B612. Lemurs only live in Madagascar.

Maybe it's because I've been watching The Penguins of Madagascar too much, though.

As for other ideas, Tibet will have an endless knot as its symbol, along with a color change to saffron (AKA the color of the robes Buddhist monks wear).

For the Seminole, I'll probably go with a Tomahawk (Tomahawk Chop anyone?). I'll change their colors to Garnet and Gold to go along with it.

Gran Colombia will likewise get a color change to Burgundy and White (like the Venezuelan uniforms.)

Finland and Buryat will likely switch colors, mainly because I have a Finnish button already made with the Buryat main color. It's the same flag from Civ Gold, but inverted.

Polynesia's symbol baffles me. Why the Kanak flag? The Kanaks are Melanesian, not Polynesian. I think either the symbol on this Hawaiian flag or a tiki mask would be better.

Mexico's flag will be changed to Rhye's decal of the coat of arms of Mexico.

The civs from Colonization will all likely have their original flags, with the exception of the Arawaks. I've never liked the turtle for them. The Taino Sun is a much better symbol for them.

For Ireland, do you prefer the harp or a shamrock?

Etruscans... I don't get the lion. Looks cool, but thinking of many symbols I think I'll give them a chimera (they're known for making a famous Chimera statue).

I'm currently deciding between two symbols for South Africa: the symbol in their coat of arms or the flag of Cape Town

The Austrians will have an edelweiss as their symbol.

Mutapa is definitely getting the Zimbabwe bird. Congo's symbol will be changed to the leopard's head from their coat of arms.

Yes, I renamed 4.0 to Old Gold in my Program File, and then put 5.0 in as 'CIV gold'. Now Civ Gold won't even show up in the 'mods' screen on the main menu! Help!

Hmmm....I tested the installer and it installed correctly. I'll look at it tonight. As for Taizong, I just overlooked him but oddly used a reskin of him for another leader.

The point of Gold was just to accommodate new civs and leaders. I love the idea of new religions, but as an add-on.

I'm sorry, I'll try again. Don't retest until I have tried, please- I might have found the problem (on my end)

Check the directory the exe is set to install.
The one I downloaded from here has program files twice. So it made a new Program Files folder inside of Program Files.

Mistakes with the Cherokee and Apache flag icons - I reset some changes from a previous upload and didn't change these back.

So....

Rename 'Apache.txt' to 'Apache.dds' and save it to Modules\Custom Civilizations\Apache\

Rename 'Aniyonega.txt' to 'Aniyonega.dds' and save it to Modules\Custom Civilizations\Aniyonega\

As for the installer, Cut and Paste (not copy) the CIV Gold folder from the one the installer created to the proper Mods folder in the BtS directory.

Hey Wyz, I just wanted to congratulate you and the other CivGold people for a job well done. I won't be able to nickpick through the mod for stuff I can steal for my mod at the moment, as I'm on half-vacation in a semi-remote area where the internet is not exactly great, so it may be a few days or so before I'll download CivGold 5.0 and check out how much I was missing out on.

Again, good job! Makes the work for the rest of us modders a bit easier. :)

Those are the same buttons!

???

The two files attached are new buttons for the Apache and Cherokee, respectively. They replace the exsting ones and are different from the ones used by the Navajo and Seminole.

I seem to recall you wanted to FPK the art to speed up loading, what happened to that ? :)

No resources. I worked on 5.0 largely by myself and I didn't have the time to do that. I've never done it, also. I'm all for it for future editions - or even a re-pack of this one. But I need someone with some time to come on board to help with things like that.
