The price for the game is a Prime Membership. That is not free at all. The Prime Membership is $14.99 per month. The is just under $180 per year. No thank you.

Yes, this offer seems only to be interesting for civers who still have the Prime Membership or want to have it, especially as at GOG currently Civ 3 Complete is on sale for only 99 European cents.

Does the Gog version have executables for vanilla and PTW? or is it limited to conquests like the steam version?

Not an amazon member but I would buy the gog version for the earlier executables.

The GOG version does not have the Civ 3 vanilla and PTW exes, too - but the C3X mod is developed with the GOG version and only adapted to the steam version and the GOG version is not suffering the problem with the changed labels text file of the steam version, that plays havoc with the texts of nearly all existing Civ 3 mods and scenarios.

I purchased the GOG version of Civ 3 last night, and my version has both Play the World and Vanilla. I booted the PTW version with no problems, and I have all three editors as well. I will check how it plays later in the week, once I move a few things over.

Added Note: Now I just have to figure out how to move some stuff over from my old Windows computer to the newer one. I am not good at doing Windows.

Interesting, as my GOG version, installed as offline installation at the beginning of this year, is still missing the vanilla and the PTW exe (the editors of those versions are included in my installation). After your post I had a look at GOG, but my Civ 3 Complete has no update marker at GOG.

- Have you made the Galaxy installation (in difference to my offline installation) ?
- Can other civers confirm, that the GOG version now also includes the vanilla and the PTW exes (the editors were always included here) ?

I stand corrected. While the GOG version will run Vanilla and Play the World scenarios, the .exe files are not there. It does not change them to Conquest files, but runs them as Vanilla and PTW files. That does change the behavior of Barbarians, as Barbarians running under the PTW .exe file are much more aggressive than under Conquest. However, if you are playing a Test of Time scenario, the Dinosaurs, at least as I have multiplied and boosted their stats, are quite aggressive. What is worse than running into one T-Rex? How about running into a stack of four of them. Stacks of four ate two of my swordsman armies.
