Civ IV crash

Hi Ori,

Was able to start a new Hotseat game, and guess what....

It Crashed...

The crash now occurs during our hotseat game. I was able to play a solo game up until I finished it by DOmination Victory by 2007AD without incidents. So the single play is ok, now it is the Hotseat I need help with...

Hope to hear from you soon. :coffee:

Hello Ori,

Sorry, forgot about that mod.

Ever since I re-installed my Civ 4 a couple of times I total forgot about that mod.

Currently the solo and the new Hotseat game that we started do not run on any mods, and yes, the new Hotseat game still crashes...

Yes the error seems to be the same... Here it is, in case I might be wrong...

Hi Ori,

Yes my drivers are up to date, downloaded and installed then weeks ago since this crashing started. And I am puzzled with the memory, I remember the game crashing on the my old XP tower pc a year back, and it has only 1 GB of RAM. But my laptop has 4GB! I hope there is nothing wrong with the memory... and other causes?

I might try to re-install the drivers though... And why does it crash only during Hotseat now? Even if I just switched on the Laptop, only the needed programs running on the task bar?

ok, I was not quite awake this morning ;)
this memory access error is usually not caused by failing hard memory (that would give you a blue screen or a complete shutdown of your computer in most cases) - rather it is usually some piece of software trying to access a memory address that it is not allowed to.
Now display and sound drivers are indeed very common reasons for that - another culprit could of course be the game itself - but that should be resolved with a clean reinstall :dunno:

Hmm, I guess i would have to re-install the drivers. forgot about the sound though.

I think I have clean re-installed it more than enough :crazyeye:

Will try it later when I get back, thanks for the advice, will post what happens next.

Might even clean re-install again though,

Sorry for my absence.

I tried almost every work around I found around the forums, I tried updating my drivers, disabled and closed all the programs running on my taskbar, Clean re-installed using the compatibility option for Windows XP SP2 on a new admin account. And it still crashes... I kinda lost hope on getting CIv 4 to run properly on my Laptop. I blame Vista :gripe:

Thanks for trying to help me though. I really aprreciated it.
