Civ IV: Gold- Transporting Settlers?

Hi!
I just installed the Civ IVL: Gold edition for Mac last night- so far everything is working fine. Im on a Macbook Pro Intel mac with OSx 10.5.8 .

My only issue is that my settlers will not load on any coastal transports except the Galley. My Galleon will have nothing to do with my Settler however it WILL transport my Explorer. I need to get my Settler across the sea!!

I get the red 'FAIL' circle whenever I try to transport my settler, be it from within a city or from a neighbor square.

This may sound stupid, but double-double check you're not trying to load it into a Caravel. Those can transport Explorers (and Scouts, spies, GPs and missionaries) but not Settlers, Workers or military units.
