Civ IV grinds to a halt.

After several hours of playing, I notice that the performance gets worse and worse.

A few quick checks reveal that the page file is totally filling up! (all 1.5 gigs of it)

I have a static page file for performace reasons.

Is there any reason this is happening?

I've got the same deal. By 1900 the game moves at about 1 or 2 FPS.
