I've only lived in the country 8 months and haven't bought any games yet (a fact that should have changed today), so I've never heard anything. What's the deal? The last I remember hearing, UK and U.S. were strong allies, so I don't think it would be some sort of international tension. Is there something in the base game perhaps to provocative for the UK market that is being reviewed? Does the UK censor games? It seems odd that if the game is fundamentally going to be the same, it could not be released along with the U.S. or even when the earliest European countries got it.

Take2 simply moved the official release date for Europe a week back to the 4th November. Nothing to do with the Eternal Alliance between the US and UK!!![]()

Why would Take2, or anybody, need to move the official release back for some European country (very obviously not all: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, others?...) for any reason? If the game has to go through some extra bureaucratice process, then ok, that's life. But is this the case? If yes, what is this extra process for UK?
We're not talking something that hasn't been done a million times before: Release a game into a market. It can be complicated, but since I have so little experience with the nuances of UK law or atypical business practices concerning PC games (I specialize in a different type of gaming), I really have no idea what those complications would be. Does anybody here know?
dpaajones said:Don't forget that Switzerland, Austria and Germany are German speaking nations and so have their own German version of the game. That version may have been more quickly manufactured and distributed than the English and French versions. Maybe?
Flak said:Actually the games are multi-lingual. If I hadn't moved here from Austria 8 months ago, I would be be playing, more likely modding, Civ IV in English right now!
dpaajones said:Ah but the packaging is different, as are the manuals and so.
Not true: we Dutchies are in it with you! Some can't deal with it and defect to Germany to get one there!Mikeytikey said:I think it's just a conspiracy against us Brits actually...yes everyones out to get us...![]()
