Civ IV Reference Charts

 With all the small things going right, the big things I mess up.
Keep 'm coming

great work indeed.
about civilopedia, it misses some parts, but i still find it flexible.
at least i can easily navigate in it, clicking the links which is not practical with excel.

does civfanatics.com have an exact online section of civilopedia somewhere, guys?

Bowman's special abilities are not correct :)

I've gone and released my own version of the reference charts. I made them a while back, and held off on releasing them until I felt they were finished, but then life interrupted before I could, and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get to, so I figure it's pretty darn close to finished, and you guys might find it useful. Follow the link in my sig if you want to check it out.

(The forum link from the Michelangelo spreadsheet brought me here.)

First, thanks for putting this together! Definitely easier to use than the Civilopedia IMO. A few issues I'm running into.

1) The keyboard shortcut Ctrl + S consistently causes an error in its built-in macro and asks if I wish to debug.

2) I can't remove that Ctrl + S shortcut. So I can't use the default Excel shortcut for saving the document.

3) It's impossible to hide worksheets. Since there's way more sheets than I want it takes a while to switch between the worksheet "Keyboard & Mouse Shortcuts" and the worksheet "Unique Units". I don't even want to see the Warlords and BTS sheets as I'm playing vanilla cIV. So it's a little cumbersome to access information.

4) Every time I close it the spreadsheet asks me if I want to save changes even though I didn't make any. I presume there's some kind of automatic work being done in the background by the macro.

I'm going to try the PDF version as I highly value your work. Thanks again!

@fightcancer,

Always glad to hear it is of help.

Regarding your points, the ctrl-s macro isn't from me and it looks like it is used for setting up the original version of the sheets. I never realized that the ctrl-s shortcut would interfere with excel otherwise I would have removed it by now. No harm doing it your self I guess.

To remove it, go to the debug, delete the macro it points to and your good to go.

For this you probably have to unprotect the workbook in excel-tools-protection. This also makes it possible to hide worksheets.

The work done in the background is about some formatting. So you don't have to save it.

Hope this will help.

Just looked at this file again after a long time of no Civ.
Several errors caught my eye on the BTS Civ work sheet. (I'm running BTS 3.17 right now)

1) Augustus is listed as Creative and Organized. He's Imperialistic and Industrious.
2) Boudica is missing from the Leader list. (Celts, Aggressive and Charismatic)
3) Byzantine starts with Mysticism and The Wheel. (You have Mining and The Wheel)
4) Native Americans start with Fishing and Agriculture. (You have The Wheel and Hunting)

Thank you, Matt. I caught a couple of those in my sheet (which I just updated), but the other two I missed. I've also declared I'm updated to 3.19, but I'm pretty sure this sheet here is also 3.19. The only relevant change to mine (that I could figure out) was changing something about the Conquistador, and that particular something was not IN my sheet (and probably not in this one either). Technically, it was an error that the patch fixed, rather than the other way around!

Were the Civ IV Reference Charts from the OP ever updated to BTS with the latest patch?

As I recall, the only change was something that turned out to have been an error in the sheet; that is, one of the units had a certain ability that changed, but the sheet mistakenly did not have that particular piece of information about the unit, so before the change was made, the sheet was in error for neglecting to mention it, but now the sheet is correct. Kind of like a stopped clock being right twice a day.

IIRC, it was the Conquistador which changed.

If all you play is BTS, my sheet (see my sig) has a few fewer errors, and was based on this sheet. However, I took out the sorting macros because they were getting in my way. (I guess I'm a Luddite.)
