Soren - I was kind of hoping you could confirm that at this point, if you are still lurking around, could you help us out here?

Even if he'd be reading this and post here now, do you really think Sören will ever admit to rushing the game and the possibility of list of bugs if that was the case ???

Maybe they finished two weeks ago because all of the play testers refuse to play anymore with the huge size of the units

and in doing so they they will be able to fix any bugs with patches

I have a cable connection so a patch takes about 2 secs to download not that much of a hassle

Has anyone found a place to preorder it yet?

looked on amozon.com nothing but the strategy guide

All I hope is that the European release date is not like a month or so later like with some other games.

man you people sure are doing alot of compalining and guessing how bad it is going to be and bet I $100 everyone of you are going to play it and enjoy it no matter what..............sounds like alot of waste of time...why dont we hold our opion untill we at least play 5 mins of it :goodjob:

Better an early release than a game that constantly slips on the release date. They'll have more time for patching so we might get 4 patches for civ 4 like we got 3 for civ 3.

He can't. He's dead. Firaxis is a Despotism, and when they rushed the Civ4 build, well, they lost him.

Thing was that I saw his name in the active users list at the time, and everyone was running around like a chicken with its head cut-off going "Oh it's going to be crap!" "Oh we've been shafted". Which I think is an awful and spoilt attitude to take especially when you are on a fansite.

All I wanted was some official confirmation, not whether or not the game is a little or a lot buggy - I didn't ask that myself and I don't care. All that will be worked out at some stage.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are some features I would have liked that we won't be getting but I don't care much in the end - we're getting the game we're getting and I'm going to be playing it for years anyway.

I agree.

If I was them, after listening to most of the people on here, I would have eliminated half the features, threw in some bugs on purpose, and released that version 2 weeks early where all the so called fans would snatch it up, then released the real version on time for the reasonable mainstream.

Agreed. Surely its best if they release the game early, and give us a chance to find any bugs. This way, we'll have the game free of bugs by nov 15!

Any one who thinks that this is a bad thing is not a true Civ fan, you all can quote this and say crap about it as much as y’all want, I don’t care. Btw, I didn’t know that Soren checked out this site, if you read this Soren, thanks for making this game man. :D

Bet you anything that we here in Australia still won't get the game until December :(! (and you call us ALLIES??? :mischief: ;) ) Seriously, though, as long as I have a month or so of feedback-here at CFC and Apolyton-about how good/bad the game is, then I don't mind either way. As Warpstorm said, it sounds like they have found and removed the biggest 'game-breaking' bugs, and are now just in 'tweak and polish mode'. I also doubt that an extra two weeks would have sufficed to find all the little annoying bugs which only become apparent when you have thousands of people playing the game for hours on end.
Last thing, though, that really means that we should be seeing around 1-2 reviews/designer diaries a week from now on, doesn't it? :mischief:

Aussie_Lurker.

i'm so excited, i just can't hide it...

Take Two took a big hit over the "Hot Coffee" fiasco, and they are looking to cash in on a sure thing. I even said in an earlier thread I was somewhat worried they would do something like this.

I've been pretty excited about almost everything in this new version of civ, but this smells really, really bad to me.

The only way for a game to be truely tested is to realease it. Then you have thousands of people doing the stuff you would of never though of doing, therfore it would take a whole lot less time to find bugs.
The consumer shouldn't have to pay to betatest a product.

All i can say is that im happy, This might have been the plan from the begining to release before november, get it out early, i think they are ready to ship. All of us will be the true testers we will find any bugs still left. After all if they had came to you and said that they wanted you to be a Beta tester everyone would have drooled at the idea!! So think of this as a early release for us to test and report any bugs, they will be fixing any major bugs found right away on a new game and we get to play the game sooner its a win-win Situation.

EDIT: I'll pay $50 to be a Beta tester any day!........

actually when a company delays a game release people scream, now we get it earlier than expected and people scream again.

We all have no clue whether 14 days make a difference, i mean they are developing this game since quite a while. and I am happy that you in the US will playtest for us and by the time the game ships here, I get a game with patches ready :goodjob:
