 Hello,
I am getting very frustrated with this game. I just bought it and now I can't get it to run. It installed correctly and gave me no errors. After double-clicking on the run Civ IV desktop shortcut nothing happens. It doesn't even show up in task manager as a file running. I tried installing the patches, but it still doesn't run. I am running Windows Vista with a 2.8 mhz computer. Any ideas on how I can get the game to run correctly?

Im having this same problem, have both vanilla and BTS installed and patched and neither will load. Running as admin doesnt help, and running in either XP or 2k compatability modes doesnt help.

I really enjoyed playing this game on my old XP computer and any help would be greatly appreciated.

No... just never loads when I click on it. Ive tried using shortcuts, the main one in Program Files as well as the auto start when you put the CD in, no go. When task manager is running and I attempt to start it it never shows CIV as running at all.

I'm having this EXACT problem.

Double click the Civ4BeyondSword.exe icon. Nothing happens. No error messages. No nothing.

If I bring up Windows Task Manager I can see "Civ4BeyondSword.exe" running and using some memory.

I've gone so far as to uninstall and reinstall BOTH Civilization IV AND BTS. Still nothing. Civilization IV vanilla works for me, but not BTS.

My BTS and Civ4 came from Direct2Drive.

Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

I found the answer!

Well, for me anyways..

BTS has some sort of a software conflict with a program called "Asus Multiframe". (I'm running this on an Asus G1s.) When Asus Multiframe is running, BTS will not load. When I turned it off, (it runs silently in the background after windows startup) BTS started right up no problem at all.

I discovered this by turning off all the programs running in the background one-by-one and then seeing if BTS would load up.
