civ module for mechanos

hey guys: i play FFH on my 2.1ghz, 4gb macbook (bootcamped to XP). it seems to proceed without problems, but whenever i try out modmods - RiFE, Orbis, FFurther - it inevitably CTDs without explanation after a couple-to-a-hundred turns ...

this is incredibly frustrating. it's probably the fact that i'm running Civ4 on a dinosaur. (would that be it?)

thing is, what i really want to try out are the Mechanos (got hardon for Steampunk + WH40K-style techno-fanaticism). Is there any way that I can mod my own separate Mechanos Civ for FFH, using the RiFE resources? Is that permissible/possible? How would I go about it?
